I, personally, love how the 'most common side effects' of anti depressants are basically the same as being depressed.  And non-smoking aids have side effects pretty much identical to quitting tobacco.

Fell back asleep after my alarm went off this morning, woke up ~15 minutes later when the Dancer's alarm went off and had to rush through getting ready and ultimately drive in instead of riding. Not sure this that was a net plus or minus as I was questioning whether I was up for riding anyway, and it means I can run by Walmart on the way home for a few things I need.

Last year during open enrollment I opted out because insurance is expensive and we were not expecting. Also the math doesn't make sense ($800+ per month + $2000 = $11600 per year before we see any benefits at all), and I don't make that much. I can't afford roughly coughcough20cough%cough of my annual take home pay for peace of mind.  Also I have a fundamental problem with insurance: Health coverage does not equal health care, and insurance companies do not exist to save people money or to provide a service. They exist to make money and we the unwashed masses foot the bill in the end. And don't even get me started on auto insurance.

So now with a kid on the way and making a little more now than I was then I decided to go insurance shopping in the "free" market. Apparently no. Due to some govt BS I can't buy insurance through a private company until November. Seriously!??! Since we don't qualify as poor folks we can't get on the federal program, and since my job offers (expensive) insurance we can't qualify for subsidies either. But none of that matters since I can't buy anything until november.

Just more reason to hate the system I guess. Also government.

Having a child is a life-changing event. You should be able to buy somewhere even though it isn't open enrollment.

make sure you're drinking plenty of water.   i get all of those things when i'm dehydrated.  and i get dehydrated pretty regularly because i run a lot and i sometimes forget to keep drinking water when i get home from work, so when i get up at 5AM to run i may be starting off with a low tank.

Been just waiting around at work for at least an hour past my usual quittin' time now to receive this document which I'll perform a 5-minute operation on. It's really too bad that it's too big to email and my coworkers aren't good enough with computers to work around that.

Oh look just got it. And some pics are squished again. Whatever, not my problem, especially at this time.

Edit: And now the tropical storm that was supposed to brush us tomorrow is here.

Sounds like Wellbutrin.  That’s one of several antidepressants I’ve tried.  Nausea, sweating and foggyheadedness are the side effects I had.

Nailed it.

My mom and brother tried chantix. Mom came close to going to the psych ward. Hell no.

Vaping seems to be working so far. Down to 1-2 real cigarettes a day from two packs a day Thursday of last week.

I was going to suggest vaping despite all the stereotypes. It worked for me to quit chewing and saved my gums. I started with 6mg nicotine and dropped slowly down to 1.5. Alot of it depends on what type of vape your using though.

All you all cooking cheap cuts need a pressure cooker. Pressure cook before you make pulled anything then smoke low and slow after for say 4 hours and it will taste better then anything you have eaten.

I am am stuck in Las Vegas right now and 4 days of this place is exactly one two many. First three were a blast. Now I am dehydrated hungover a bit and significantly more sunburnt then I arrived.

Flight home cannot come soon enough.

Great.  Meeting my new boss and his new boss tomorrow.  Nervous enough over that, especially as they want to meet at the Downtown location which is not where my office is and where I’ve never been.

Now they publish an agenda and the second item on the list is a “Team Building Exercise”. FML. My teammates and I are all IT people and we’ve been working together for 4 years.  We don’t need a Team Building Exercise.  We’re not sales people and we don’t respond to that sort of nonsense (well, most of us.  One of the guys is a Type-A ex-wrestler who is all about being “Captain America” in our team, he suggested going for a run as the exercise.  Dick.)

So I have to get up at the butt crack of dawn after helping deal with a newborn all night and a wife recovering from a C-section, wake our 2-year old up early to take her to the sitters at the exact opposite side of town because my wife can’t pick her up yet, drive all the way down town and hope there’s no accidents along the way because it rained hard tonight and people around here are complete numptys when it comes to rain, just to participate in a a face to face meeting and a Team Building Exercise followed by a free lunch and more meetings.

Sigh, ill need a beer or two tomorrow night.

ugh.. team building exercises. Those of us who work in "entertainment" at the casinos loathe those time wasting events. Ra Ra meetings and any other shenanigans all go into the same circular file. We may be a very dysfunctional department with more drama than the actors, but when work comes, we function very well to get the shows in, up, running, and out. Just keep the corporate BS away from us.

In other words.. you have my sympathy!

After my last trip there, I think I’ve determined half a day is about my limit for Vegas.  I usually end up there for the cheap flights out west, then travel off to national parks, so rarely spend much time anyway.  Last time was just worse than ever before.  Think I’ll stay in Henderson next time I fly out.

DW works for a major scientific corporation that is merging with another major scientific corporation.  Things have been sketchy for a year.

She has come to the (positive) attention of the lab director that was appointed last year.  She likes him, and he thinks she's fantastic at her job (she is).  She's one of his go-to people for all kinds of different tasks.  Also, at about the same time last year, one of her good friends in the science wing was promoted to management.  Always good to have support and recognition from above - especially since DW has spent years performing spectacularly and helping her whole group improve, with very little acknowledgement.

Lab director's boss was in town yesterday from out of state.  Guess which 2 people (out of 100+) just got E36 M3canned?

Argh... is there just NO way to get metallic spray paints to look consistent and good? Got the hood of the Rampage (using it as a test for how the paint scheme I have in mind will look on the rest of the car) sanded, cleaned, and primered yesterday with enough time to put down the silver that takes up the majority (middle) of the hood. Several light coats... and it's STILL got noticeable lines in it from the painting. Can't tell if I just suck at spray painting or if it's just not possible to get consistent, good-looking coverage with a metallic-color spray can....

I’ve never gotten metallic spray paint to look good on large surfaces.  I’m sure there’s a way to do it, but it seems so easy to mess up.

In reply to eastsideTim :

Well, the 'good' news is that the hood is by far the largest area of metallic spray paint on the car- followed by the roof and the tailgate- so as long as I can get the non-metallic parts to look good the rest (mainly stripes) of the silver shouldn't be TOO bad. Of course, this was never going to look professional to start with- just want it to look better/less unfinished than it has...

Yesterday, took a 2 hour drive, (4 hour round trip) in the rain/fog, with my son to look at 1973 Ford F100.  The seller sent pictures of the truck, in areas my son requested.  Slick berkleyer, took shots in a way that you couldn't see how bad it was.  The truck was a total PILE.

My rant is the inconsiderate E36M3s that make you waste your time with their Bull E36M3!!!

Uhh, prior to the ACA, you almost certainly wouldn't have had any coverage for maternity care or childbirth in your insurance, and you definitely would not have been able to sign up for insurance after your wife was pregnant and have it covered. That is a textbook "pre-existing condition," which were almost completely excluded in the old way of doing things. As it is, you can sign up in November for insurance coverage starting in January and it'll cover any of those expenses from January and on.

Don't get me wrong, there is more than enough to complain about when it comes to health insurance nowadays. But coverage and enrollment windows / exclusionary periods / etc are not worse than they were before; they are way, way better.

Check your networks, though. We had to fight tooth and nail to get the right network and to get our doctor's expenses on our last child birth covered. It was a pain in the ass.

On Monday I towed 3 hours 20 minutes to WV to look at a Volvo, I found the seller's house after getting lost for over an hour and it was the same situation. Much worse than the pictures and description. I turned around and towed the empty trailer home.
