Put a new in the box harbor freight generator for sale on a local facebook sale group for 75-80% of the usual sale price. That's the 7kw one that usually sale prices at $520-ish for $400. I think I had a whamodyne coupon and did a little better than that sale price when I bought it, but it's still a deal on a brand new Generator.
Guy offers me $350 right away.
I stick to my price but offer to meet him 45 minutes from my house and 4 from his, not quite free home delivery but close.
Nope, he's not going to pay a penny over $350.
There are 38 generators in the local area of Facebook marketplace:
-8 are less than $350, and the biggest of those is 4kw.
-10 are similarly sized and the cheapest of them is $400 and obviously well used.
I think I have priced the unit exactly right to be the best value available right now in that market. I honestly can't figure out where this guys offer came from and why he's so stuck on it. It's infuriating.
People are obsessed with the deal more than the thing they are buying. Its about priorities really.
I sold a 3 axle 20ft car trailer on facebook marketplace. I hate trailers and dont want to use them, plus i dont own anything that would tow this monster. I got it years ago because i wanted the concrete forms that were on it, i didnt want the trailer but was told the trailer came with it cause he wanted it gone, he even offered to pull it to my house 2 hours away. The forms were worth the asking price so i was happy either way.
8 years it sat as a platform for stacking the panels until i decided to sell it. I looked at prices in the area and put it up for a good price $2500. I instantly got offers of $500 "because thats what 3 axle trailers are worth no one wants to have to replace all those tires" and other bullE36 M3 offers. I get a guy that loves it, rushes out to look at it and is literally drooling over it. He offers $2000, i tell him no....$2500 is a good price. He says he cant possibly put more money on it because of "all them tires" his wife looks at him dumbfounded and as they are driving off i can see shes telling him hes an idiot. He then messages me 4 more times in 3 days asking if the trailer is sold but cant go over $2k
Next guy walks up, doesnt haggle and sees the deal hes getting. First guy is quite butthurt that it sold.
$2500 for a 15k trailer with a good deck, all axles with brakes and tires that held air for 8 years and look not worn is a good deal, but damned if people dont want a spectacular deal and will sabotage themselves to get it
