Its really more of a major win! We matched 3 clovers and won 1000 off our next new vehicle purchase. We werent planning on buying a new car, but this totally changes everything!

Found out the local junkyard has a bunch of mostly complete 1st gen Neons. Driving 10 minutes to a smaller laid back place is way better than driving 45 minutes to the giant overpriced place in Pontiac.
Also, a (I assumed) badly leaking oil pan gasket turned out to be a finger loose drain plug.
The new tires on the truck were worth every penny. Left my buddy's tire shop and went too my dads to shoot and play in the mud pit out back. So much bite!
I'm working nightshift during the time change. Nothing like working for 11 hours and getting paid for 12!

How expensive is that Duratec I'm buying from you going to be, anyway?
One to ten it for me on a scale from Ancient Age to Pappy Van Winkle.

The other end of it stinks, though. 12 hour shift? Nah. How about 13 instead...

Oh I was thinking in the 2-3 range on that scale!
Yesterday was in the mid-60's and sunny, and I got to take the Dancer out in the convertible for the first time- and she definitely enjoyed herself, which makes the E46 the first semi-project car she's actually ridden in and likely will a good bit more in the future.
Someone put out a bottle of cajun seasoning in the breakroom this morning, so I tried putting some of it on my bacon before I cooked it in the microwave- will definitely be doing that again, though likely using a bit less than I did since it's got a LOT of salt in it.
Bought a house today. Paid cash.
For the next couple years we'll renovate to make it nice, but should the bottom completely fall out of absolutely everything between now and then we'll still have the house. That's kind of a nice feeling to have.
When my wife makes meatloaf she insists on covering it with either ketchup or bbq sauce, neither of which I want on mine. For years now she's been splitting the batch in half and ruining her half while making me my own delicious half.
Last time she made it I happened to be the one who ran to the grocery store so I was able to strategically procure a couple of bell peppers in advance and stuff my half of the meatloaf scrumptiously into them. She had never heard of such a thing and wrinkled her face at my culinary excellence, proclaiming that it would be the worst tragedy ever to have ruined perfectly good meatloaf in such a way.
After the appropriate baking time in a rare move for her she tried my perfection of her meat creation and proclaimed it as not ruined. The win? Tomorrow night she wants to make stuffed peppers for her folks, and it was entirely her idea.
Decided to celebrate the successful engine replacement in my LS430 by installing a pair of barely used borla pro xs mufflers I picked up for $50. They sound great. Not too loud and adds a little grunt, I'm happy.
Interestingly they came with what I googled to learn were J tubes to reduce drone. Hmmm.
Couldn't figure out why my seat stopped heating or moving. Checked the fuses, Googled everything, but I was still able to move the steering wheel, so I just assumed a motor or something was shot.
I decided to actually think for a change, looked at the connectors, and saw one was just...off. I shooked my head, plugged it back in, and turned on the heated seat while I drove to the junkyard.
Second minor win was when I removed the lifters from the junkyard engine, three were damaged. Looked like the little "c clamp" came undone. Explains the damaged push rods, the one cracked lifter tray, and why the truck was in the junkyard.
I call this a win because I wanted to do a cam swap, but this gave me a valid reason to buy new lifters, trays, rods, and springs.
I left my last job because they hadn't made payroll since 12/31. Started new job on 2/24. Last Friday 3/6 was payday. I got paid.
Also, on 2/28 last job made payroll for 1/15 so, while they still owe me 1.5 months salary, it was kinda like a bonus to have that paycheck.
This morning I dragged my lazy butt out of bed earlier than I have in quite a while to groggily grab all the bags I'd packed the night before and headed off to the Y for the first time in 7-8 year to swim laps in the pool this morning. Sure, I only swam for about 15 minutes and only one 25m length of it was swum in Freestyle (albeit in a pretty much full-out sprint), but it's a start. I enjoy riding my bike to work (which the location of the Y precludes my both riding and swimming, at least at my current fitness level) but the water is where I'm always happier when it comes to getting exercise. I need to be getting up earlier than I did today (and to bed correspondingly earlier as well), but hopefully I'll be able to keep with this and will either swim laps or bike in to work every day.

Outstanding! And remember, it's a lifetime habit so don't beat yourself up if you miss a day here or there.

My Mom's recipe for stuffed peppers included pre-cooked rice and taco seasoning mixed in with the ground beef. That was one of my childhood favorites.

Thanks! I used to get up and swim laps almost every morning, but the house where the Dancer and I lived and the one we currently own were too far away from any gyms with pools to be reasonable. But we just learned that there was a very new Y much closer than we knew, so I looked into and joined it. It's definitely going to be a challenge (mostly in getting to bed and up earlier than I'm used to), but I badly need to drag my weight back down to a more healthy number and swimming is something both effective and that I love to do.

I swim like a good-sized rock...
I've been a runner since I was in 5th Grade; for the past 2 years I've been on hiatus. New shoes arrive today and I have a 5k in a month and a half to train for. My goal is sub-24 minute.

Congratulations, it really is a nice feeling isn't it. We bought a "renovators delight" a for cash about 6 months ago, and whenever the scale of the job starts getting a bit much, or the doom and gloom in the media seems neverending, we just remind ourselves that our little house is ours and pretty much regardless of what else happens we still have a house.
It's a beautiful looking old place, best of luck with it, and may it bring you guys many years of memories and happiness.
