Since late November I've been experiencing shoulder pain so severe I was unable to brush my teeth with my right hand. New Doctor says it's a combination of tendinitis and bursitis (motocross shoulder?), and should go away on it's own. I've been up for over 2 hours now and not thought about my shoulder once, and I've been very active all weekend.

I've got some stretches for rotator cuff problems that have been a life changer for me.

Just imagine every possible way you can move your arm, and use a door frame or your other arm to pull farther than you want, then hold it.

No. I'm a millwright and the plant I work in is so oldschool there are actually no computers in the shop - and no computer based inventory systems either (pet peeve). But what's happening is kind of odd, and though I do have theories, my track record is not great, and I'm probably wrong.

I posted about this over an hour ago and my vision is still not yet good enough that I can easily read what I've just typed sad

Hmmm, OK, I've got nothing, then.  Good luck on this and on your headache.

For anybody with a desk job, I most strongly recommend one of these:

I had shoulder and arm pain for a year or two until DW bought me a vertical mouse.  The pain vanished within a month of using it every day.  A year or two later I still haven't felt a twinge.  Best $100 you can spend if you use a computer a lot.

Another win, for humanity: there is a high school student who is scouring all known resources and getting vaccine appointments for those who are unable to navigate the convoluted process. To date, it looks like he has helped at least 25 people schedule their vaccinations.

Kids these days, I tell ya. Damn Zoomers.

In reply to Duke :

I don't normally experience pain from the migraines, just interruptions in vision, like when you stare into a bright light then look away, except it usually takes about 20 minutes to return to normal. Today's was pretty bad.

It's more nuisance than anything but I am thrilled that my shoulder pain is almost gone.

Auras are usually visual but can also be sensory, motor or verbal disturbances. Visual auras are most common.

A visual aura is like an electrical or chemical wave that moves across the visual cortex of your brain. The visual cortex is the part of your brain that processes visual signals. As the wave spreads, you might have visual hallucinations.

This visual aura may expand into a sickle- or C-shaped object, with zigzag lines on the leading edge. As it moves, it may appear to grow. Auras are not the same for all people, so you also might experience bright spots or flashes. Auras are sometimes accompanied by a partial loss of vision referred to as a scotoma. Auras commonly last 10 to 30 minutes.

A sensory aura is also common. It can occur at the same time as the visual aura, directly afterwards or simply on its own. A sensory aura begins as a tingling in one limb or a feeling of numbness that travels up your arm over 10 to 20 minutes. The sensation can spread to one side of your face and tongue.

The bolded part happened to me at work one evening and they called an ambulance thinking I was having a stroke. Fortunately my family doctor referred me to a migraine specialist who put it all together

Thanks for the tip. I don't think that's the answer because that kind of thing seems to make it worse, but I'll try it

I have a rate. 2.75. somehow buying a home is going to be like 500$ a month cheaper than renting. Why didn't I just do this before? Oh wait. Credit is stupid. "Sorry, we don't trust you to pay 1100 a month, so you get to pay 1700 a month til we think you can afford 1100 a month".

Credit is made up of the same voodoo as an automatic transmission or adjustable shocks. Anyone claiming to know how it works is half full of E36 M3.

Apparently...when you stir enough E36 M3 at a city council meeting and say the quiet parts out loud that people want covered up, the mayor will call you on the phone the next day. I must be doing something right!

I got a bunch of clear latching-lid bins last night and before work this morning emptied out these shelves and organized things.  Now things are with things that are like things and all the falling-apart cardboard boxes are in the trash.  It looks better than it did and it'll be easier to move all this stuff somewhere else, but it's a little annoying that I didn't get any shelf space back.  But one more step completed in the "get lift for workshop" project!

I just baked my skates (a process used to get them to better fit your feet). My feet are now toasty warm. Very comfortable. They weren't cold before, but they feel very nice right now.

I threw out a whole bunch of stuff and moved those bins.  Viola, shelf space!  Now I just need to find a home for this stuff and I can go ahead and take the whole shelving unit down.

ad was up for 4 hours when I saw it. Dude is about 1.5 hours away, near a spot my wife and I go occasionally, so picking up a set of C5 Magnesiums for $250 and taking my wife for a nice brunch is my double minor win for the weekend.

I have that plastic shelf next to my toolbox at work, it is holding fluids and spray cans and many blowmolded cases, and I got it for free because MrsBoss was throwing it out and I was like "hey, I can actually use that"

And yes, the plastic is bowing to an incredible degree too.  Free is a quality overcoming many faults.

They're not awful for what they are, but it does seem like when you go one pound over whatever they're rated for, it's bow-city!

Related win: As I was assembling the bin of Excursion parts, I realized that among the parts that AccordionFolder included with the truck when I bought it from him were the big axle seals that sell for about $70 a piece.  I'm glad I've been procrastinating fixing the vacuum hubs!  Cleaning up the shop a little just saved me about a hundred and fitty bucks!

The day hadn't been a complete loss, there are a couple bright spots.

1- my mother got her first covid shot this morning

2- our model car club got the ok for the town to start meeting again for the first time since last January

3- I sent a care package of some older matchbox cars to the 4 year old son of a woman in one of my Facebook support groups. He loved it, and her 11 year old flattened out all the racing papers I wrapped it in to read them. They live in the middle of dirt racing country so I sent him a subscription to follow along. It looks like she's going to take him to a few this summer.

Let me tell you, I berkeleying hate Paypal.

So I've been using netparcel to do all my shipping for a while now and I've been very pleased with the service. Until a few weeks ago when I chose UPS as the carrier and, while they delivered the package very quickly to th factory about 40 minutes away, it was actually supposed to go to West Virginia. Fortunately somebody in the factory quickly realized that the vintage motocross bike parts in the box were not meant for them, called the number on the invoice - mine, and I drove there and picked it up.

UPS says it's not their problem, deal with NP. NP says it's not their problem, it was UPS that delivered to the wrong place. I've been going back and forth for a few weeks now trying to get my money back when it hit me. I paid with Paypal! I opened a dispute and within a day I had my money back.

I finally win with Paypal!
