Half day at work. Finally getting the recommended medical procedure this afternoon. Supposed to help me avoid surgery or at least buy me some years. And I think imma pick up some flatwounds for the new ibby.
I mean, I hate needles, but overall this should be a good thing. And at the very least it gets me out of work early!
And this is the part where we find out how I react to Valium.

"Good Valium comes on slow. The first hour is all waiting. And then about halfway through its second hour, you start cursing the creep who burned you because nothing's happening. And then... zang"
The 11 month old high fived me today.

It's like women. One's not enough, and two's too many
Had an interior refinisher take a pass at the driver's seat on the i8 while I was working at the airport today. He does a lot of work on business jets as well as cars.
Results are awesome. Not super cheap, but I have a seat that looks almost brand new for the cost of refinishing a couple of wheels! He spent a couple of hours on it, including masking off the contrasting stitching while recoloring the finish.

I sold a couple cars today, have someone coming to look at another. I feel the need to simplify and really it's hard to focus on anything when there are so many needing work.
SWMBO had her car serviced at local VW dealer today and coming out the back part of the lot behind service was an 80s green Vanagon and I started drooling. She looked at me and agreed. I think I picked the right one!
We just scored the low-mileage LS460 that crashed into our building earlier this week for $7k.
Son who never smiles seemed to really enjoy his “thrill ride” at Motorsports Ranch today.
Slowly but surely selling stuff out of the garage that I don't need, which makes more room for the stuff I already have.
Got my junkyard caliper packed and on vehicle, and got the brake lines tied in, finally. I should be able to bleed the system enough to get it to a shop to cycle ABS/TC since I had literally every hard line off.
Saw friends this weekend, and helped enable one pick up his new BMW 330E via fly and drive.
One of our travel nurses got a wild hair up her ass and decided to buy Arby's for the floor, and I remembered that I had been "gifted" several Starbucks gift cards that were taking up space in my wallet. $30 of starbucks drinks later the nurses on the floor are far, FAR happier.

First autocross of the season last year. Gorgeous weather, 70s and no sun. Killer course that was absurdly fast (third gear, foot to the floor for about a quarter of a mile). The new Nankang tires are legit, and I managed to get 8th out of 42 in raw times.
I have rental coverage on my auto policy that allows $40 a day. My truck is in the body shop this week due to a negligent driver side swiping me. I asked the rental place about getting a pickup truck (either midsize or fullsize) and I was told it would be an extra $40 out of pocket per day. Hmm... What about a cargo van? A whopping $1.99 out of pocket per day.
Sold!
I got a 2020 Transit T250 Medium Roof LWB AWD with only 11k miles. Sadly, it's not the 3.5L EcoBoost just the plain 3.5L. I was surprised to discover it's the AWD version as I'm in central Florida. It drives pretty nice considering what it is.
It sure beats a 3cyl/CVT Mitsubishi Mirage!
TIL there are all wheel drive Transits.
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
I was curious and hit up Autotrader to see what one of these beasts would cost. I think they would make a cool camper conversion.
I was not expecting $55k-$60k! For an AWD cargo van!
"Dream" guitar just sold. I got to experience a rare pointy guitar (095 of 200) for a couple years, and now someone else gets to experience it. And I nearly doubled my money. I never really bonded with it, and it's a rather redundant tool in my arsenal.
Dream Guitar, Dream Bike.

I'm on a roll.
I've been working on something for a couple weeks now. If it works out in this market it'll be one of my best deals ever.
OK, I pulled it off.
In 2019 I bought a new leftover 2018 YZ125 to replace my Husqvarna (Cagiva) race bike. I loved the Husky but parts were getting difficult since KTM entered the picture so it was time. The YZ is, by most accounts, an excellent bike. A bit dated, but competitive at my level, and the price certainly was right. So I thought I'd give it a go.
Long story short, after riding it for a year I was done with it. It never grew on me. I didn't like working on it, and it just seemed so cheaply built compared to the Husky.
So after having seen an ad for a TM125 I would have loved to own I passed because I found out it was probably beat, but my mind was made up, I wanted a TM. A few months later I see it's big brother, and my dream bike, a TM144 for sale. It was too expensive but I entertained the idea, and had some back and forth with the owner, the regional rep. I then realized that I had seen it for sale just after I'd bought the YZ and posted that it's a good thing I just bought a bike, or otherwise I'd have to buy it. Once I knew it had been for sale for over a year the game was on. Because of the crazy market and my habit of meticulous care I got all my money back on the Yamaha, and because the TM is so specialized, most people are afraid of it, and it had been for sale over a year I got him way down on the price. In the end, I essentially gave up the YZ and got a year newer state of the art, full factory race bike with less hours, for $1500 cash.
TM's are hand made in Italy, and this thing is a work of art
2019 TM144
TL:DR I got my dream bike for a little more than the cost of a pedestrian Japanese motocrosser

I have experienced record shipping, outside of Amazon. I ordered a man purse with a hidey hole for things yesterday at 12:25 pm. I was notified it shipped at about 5am. It was on my doorstep at 12:28 pm today. Amazon has only bested that, once. The best part? This shipping was FREE.
No, the best part is you now have a man purse

That looks like an excellent thing, as long as you don't drop it on your arm.

Too soon?
Have you met Peabody (even virtually)? There's no such thing as too soon.
