Spent the last week at work playing with a robot arm and 3D printing stuff. Basically what a 13 year old would imagine engineering to be and its great

Walking into ABC store just so happened to arrive right as they were setting up for a bourbon drop (VA ABC has to sell at MSRP price and not mark up, to control limited releases, they randomly distribute bottles across the state then announce a "drop", don't know what's there till you walk in).
Had to wait for the text/tweet to go out to buy but walked out with a bottle of Heaven Hill 18 year, then needed to circle back to get the actual bottle i walked in for and by then there were like 60 people in line.

One critique I've heard of doing it that way is that with the little bits you miss, you don't get all the sludge at the bottom. Dunno validity
It ain't coming out the drain plug, either.
I am pretty sure that this is why VW stuck an empty "dipstick" tube on a lot of engines. Pull the oil out the top, no need to take off the undertray.
Now the REAL fun is when you realize that you can suck all the fluid out of an automatic transmission BEFORE you drop the pan. Thing of beauty.

Oh boy. I would have gotten both blanton and that coronel taylor.

Ha ha! says Germany as they remove the dipstick tube entirely.
In reply to wae :
ZF are actually kind of decent in giving you a dipstick tube, albeit with no dipstick.
Most domestic transmissions, and Asian too, have no dipsticks or tubes.
Ford are kind of d-bags. On the rear drive transmissions that do have a dipstick, they give you a little dipstick only accessible from underneath, that you must first use a stubby 19mm to remove a cap. Then, since you must check the fluid, or even just remove the dipstick, with the engine running, you get burns on your left hand from the catalytic converter that is right there.

Only 1 bottle per person per day.. I've got a handful of blantons which seem to drop regularly, also had the wife grab one later when she got off thinking would end up with Buffalo trace but still ended up getting a small blantons. Have a couple of the other ones in the table but thr HH18 pinged as a never would I get the opportunity to find again level.
Just got done lining a few things up with the builder. We're next on the list and may be able to start the actual process in just a little over two weeks. Worst case is a month. The end of rent is in sight.

Not having read the context, this really seems like the text equivalent of some of those AI generated images we've been looking at. I have zero idea what you are talking about. And not all those words seem like real words.
No need to explain, just stream of consciousness here.
I'm out of sweetener. I often drink coffee black, but that's not my mood today.
I just remembered I kept the unused items from a hotel coffee pack I opened for a stirrer to be used facilitating giving pills and peanut butter to a dog.
Ran downstairs to my laptop bag to retrieve the goods. Coffee achieved.

Nice! Congratulations!
Last December we traded our 2012 Prius V in for a 2016 Prius V. The dealer, Huffines Subaru, is in Corrinth Texas and we are in Tennessee. They dropped the 2016 and picked up the 2012. All is good. I just got another check from them refunding money on a registration fee. That's the second check I've got from them that I had no clue about. I was already happy with them before all of that. That's jam up in my book.

Cool, I'm guessing you really like it if you are upgrading from an older one! I was looking for a Prius V when I ended up with my Mazda5 back in early 2020, but could not find one locally that didn't have tons of miles from being a rideshare car. Still would not mind one if I could get a good deal.
I figured out why the license plate light wasn't working on the trailer I wired. The trailer has something like 17 lights and the license plate one was the only one not working. I thought it was defective. Turns out that the positive is black and the negative is white. Someone else had taken it out of the box and installed it so I never saw that. Switched the leads and boom, all lights work!
Vacation in a few days and I am so mentally checked out. Boat in the middle of the Caribbean for 9 days with no wifi or cell service. I feel nice and cozy, my wife's company is doing stupid things right now so she submitted her budgets and took a few extra days off.
I am unemployed for the first time in my post college life. Even then, except for the first two years of college, I've had part time or summer jobs since I was 14. As long as eastsideWife has her job, we are good with money, so I am going to take some extended time off to get caught up on a million things. We've done a good enough job with living below our means, that when I do return to the workplace, I really won't need to seek out a high paying job, so maybe I can look for something I actually want to do, instead of chasing the highest paycheck.

I'm 2 months in, live frugally so haven't been concerned. Just was offered a job that I think I'll fit right into and so I accepted. Mon-Fri 8-5, no call, nothing else. Haven't worked that for ten years; and I'm looking forward to it.
After a roller coaster week of potentially trip-cancelling problems with the car, the Challenge car is loaded on the trailer, tools are packed, the budget is figured out, the build book is printed, and I'm finally ready to go get packed, get a couple hours of sleep, and hit the road!
Y'all are gonna love this!
More than a minor win!
Airplane purchase completed, biannual flight review completed, night current, and tucked into hangar 2 minutes from my house!
Also, some speed from the flight home--
This feels like a downright minuscule win compared to the last few, but I found a set of tire chains that fit my oddball 255/85R16s this morning at the thrift shop. It's unlikely I'll ever really need them (apparently the previous owner didn't, either, as they appear to be brand new), but for $16 after a coupon, it ain't a bad thing to have behind the seat.
