Congratulations, dood!
Needed a left tail light for the FR-S. They run about $50 for scratched, dusty examples to over $100 for nice stockers. My buddy tells me there's a couple of guys parting one out on FaceBalls .
I don't have FaceBalls, but SWMBO does. Find out that they dont have a car, only have a pair of tail lights. They were only on for a couple of months before being switched out to aftermarket LEDs. Wants $54-for the pair! And he's only about 5 miles from SWMBO's house.
They were exactly as described. I might even be able to sell the spare for what I have into this deal netting a zero sum part.
WOOT!

When I use Siri on my phone and I reply with that statement she doesn’t understand me. What’s up with that?

Just hope we can bring her home soon.
Not a minor win, but it is a minor win. Err, yeah.
My youngest was 5lb 8oz - 10th percentile for birth weight. She's 80th or 85th percentile now at 18 months. Such a chunk. I wish for growth like that in your little one's future.
Good luck and get some sleep! :-) You've got a lot of good times ahead of you.

This one is big for being 6 weeks early. Only 1lb lighter than her full term brother was. Thanks for the kind wishes everyone.
After taking 10 days off to let shinsplints go away, ran a pain-free 12 miles today. Slower than goal race pace, but still a win.
used the xt to bust off the bolt that anchors the seat belt to untwist the belt then retorqued back on. there's still a single twist high up that i can't seem to unfurl but it's now better without 20 odd twists ribboned across my chest.
thanks to mazdeuce's Grosh thread, I got the motivation to get up and push through some more unpacking of my tools, and laying them out for re-organization:
it's going to be a while before I'm certain nothing's broken... which will frankly be a minor miracle the way this stuff got packed. But, this is the "minor win" thread... so it would be appropriate.
I found 80 bucks worth of gift cards in the junk drawer when looking for something else. Nobody in my house remembers getting them, so i claimed them all.
I put new batteries in my bathroom scale because I don't think they've ever been changed. I'm maGically 8 pounds lighter.
75 degrees and sunny, yardbirds on the smoker, Bears are winning, NASCAR is racing in the Roval in a few minutes and I'm hanging out in the garage enjoying every minute of it!
Might crack a cold beer in a bit.
Semi-oldies station just played Hit Me Baby One More Time and White Wedding on the drive to school. Sang along to both. I'm that dad. It's a good day so far.
Gorgeous weather over the weekend, finally.
Finally had enough nice weather hours in a row to get the bumper cover off DD#2's Impala, bend the RF fender out to some semblance of its former shape, and replace the busted headlight. It's definitely cro-mag work (after the cover was off, my primary tool was the handle of my splitting maul) but it is good enough that everything fit back up more or less right. It looks awful from 5 feet but it looks not obviously wrecked from 20 feet.
Weather held out enough that I drove the Manic Miata to work today. First time it's been out of the garage in 6 weeks.
Some other poor unfortunate soul ran his 03 Shinsen into something solid, allowing me to turn this:
into this:
all less than $300. Part-outs FTW.
Morning commute that usually takes 1 h 15m during school year was complete in 45m. Almost no traffic.
Did the oil and replaced the reverse light switch on my 996. Reverse lights are good. Before I fixed them, I was trying to park the other night and couldn't see where the curb was.
The animals didn't wake us up at 4:00 a.m.! That's the first time that hasn't happened since last weekend. Always between 2:30 and 4:15. Usually real close to 4:00. The bastard cat riles the dog up. The dog asks to jump up on the bed. Then right after that el gato bastardo starts doing something noisy, or knocks things off end tables, and has to be bodily ejected from the room.
Yes, there are Reasons why The Darkness (one of his many other names) doesn't start the night on the other side of the closed bedroom door, but they're a boring combination of HVAC efficacy and inter-feline relations.
put the deposit down on the new to me 2br that I still haven't seen yet but don't care hey all apartments are essentially the same and then just cleared off another credit card with yesterdays pay check and still have $700+ in the checking. Move in is Nov. 1 and there is ample parking. Ample! Right out front too and only a 15 min drive home at night. Probably should at least measure for area rugs and see if it's clean when I pay the rent on or after the 19th.
Standing in the back yard with the son unit we’re watching the dogs tear around at top speed and i’m explaining to boy about how to stand with your knees bent at all times around galloping dogs in case one of them does a Cobra Kai and takes out your ACL.
The words were maybe 3 seconds out when I demonstrated their wisdom as the 75 lb ball of muscle with a battering ram skull (pit bull) hits me in the side of my right knee. It’ll bruise but i’m not on my way to visit an ortho doc for reconstruction.
I managed to put a 1962 hiawatha bicycle back together using just spare parts from other bike projects. Makes 2/4 rideable

I always stood that way as preparation for emergency nard protection.
Being around a very enthusiastic 80lb English Bulldog with the soul of Juggernaut will train ya...
