Just talked to the Doctor. They think she had a seizure at the nursing home. Nobody saw it. They are bringing in a neurologist.

That's such a raw deal. I'm so sorry you and your mom are having to go through this.
Seems like my life just goes along ok, just about to get back on my feet again, then something else horrible happens that puts me flat on my back again.
I don't even want to get up this morning.

I'm not a mental health expert, but that sounds a lot like depression. Between this thread and your other thread that began last year it's evident that you're under a lot of stress and are having difficulty processing it in a healthy way. It's beginning to take a physical toll now too. I really hope that you're willing and able to seek out some professional mental health assistance soon. You really have nothing to lose and everything to gain from it.

Have you ever had kidney stones? I ask because when I had the first one, I didn't know what it was and thought I had hurt my back.
Doctor called. She is awake again. She is responding. Sunday they were telling me she was unresponsive, they were going to put in a feeding tube and to make my plans for a funeral.
I am confused.

Just the back. I am on anti-imflammitories now. Stopped taking the percocet. There is more mobility today than yesterday. Seeing doctor later today.

Your last two posts seen like things are looking up for you and Mom. Hang in there, we are pulling for you both!!

I think you said you couldn't pay for counseling but there are lots of free help available. Reach out to your local health department. You really need to deal with the mental stress side to be able to move forward in life. Glad your mom is doing better.
In reply to Javelin (Forum Supporter) :
I hope so. I just have to realize that she is 90 years old, she is suffering from severe dementia and she won't live forever. I have trouble with that. I think there was some confusion at the hospital about her being responsive but just suffering from dementia to the point that she sometimes just doesn't respond. I still don't know what happened there. The first nurse who talked to me thought she was living at my house and not the nursing home. Didn't know she had dementia. So much disinformation. The doctor actually talked to somebody at the nursing home. The nurse this weekend didn't. Nobody at the nursing home saw her have a stroke or seizure. The neurologist says she had a couple of mini-strokes after reading the MRI.
Do you have access to a pool?
Swimming, floating and/or aquatic Tai Chi will assist with the back.
Also get something with Ashwagandha to take to help nuke your cortisol levels, as they have to be through the roof. All it is, is an extract from black pepper, it helps with the stress and feeling of things compounding though.
Although I wasn't able to come up with a response, I've been following this thread since the beginning.
Hopefully, knowing that we care and are here will help.

Me too, Doc. We're here pulling for you all.
I had the same back things you are describing about 6 years ago. I finally found the right treatments and the good news is that I've been mostly pain-free for 5 years. It will get better.

I haven't seen my chiropractor or doctor in a year because of Covid. I get my second Covid shot Friday. Lack of seeing chiropractor has a lot to do with it. That and weight gain. No gym because of Covid. Not as many walks. I need to get out more.
One thing at a time... Control what you can control. Get your back out of pain first, then worry about stuff you can do with added mobility. I've been there with blinding back pain. It sucks and you feel absolutely useless and worthless, but it ALWAYS GETS BETTER. Just keep reminding yourself of this fact- the pain and lack of mobility is temporary and you will resume normal life things soon enough.
We are all pulling for you and your mother... Good vibes here.
Glad to hear that things aren't as bad with your mom as you were led to believe, although it sucks that you were unnecessarily put through the ringer like that.
Now it's time to start looking for your path forward for yourself too. Toughing it out and grinding through, the way you seem to be doing right now, is obviously not sustainable. Nor will it get you where you want/need to be. It sounds like you need to heal your mind as much as your body.
Especially considering that the back pain seems linked to stress/depression, talking to your primary care doc about your mental health and discussing the possibility of starting up on a even just a low dose of anti anxiety/depression meds could be way to kick start the process as well. This may not even be possible through a virtual-visit rather than in-person. Even if you're not much of one for meds, it's not like you can't ease yourself off of them once life starts lifting you up rather than dragging you down.
Diet and exercise is something you can still control too. Sorry, but 'no gym' is just another excuse for 'no motivation'. If you would actually be able to find the motivation to maintain your weight with the gym open, you should be just as capable of finding the motivation to maintain your weight with the gym closed. You CAN do it.
Please take the full spectrum of suggestions that have been made in this thread into consideration, as no singular stand-alone cure-all exists... Only a lot of small partial-cures working together.

Would you consider going to a chiropractor who has been vaccinated? It's not zero risk, but definitely lower than it was 6 months ago. You should be able to see a mental health professional purely through zoom as well.
I am really glad to hear your mother is doing better.

I went today and on Saturday and Sunday. Something really cut loose today. Still sore but I can walk quite a bit better. She wants me to come back again on Thursday when the inflamation goes down for another adjustment.
