Trying to plan a guy's trip in the next few months. Probably 2 nights, and likely 3 or more guys. I'll be driving from CNY, others are coming from around Boston. The initial idea was Foxwoods, but there is also Mohegan Suns in CT. But I figured why not consider Atlantic City? Trip quality is the top concern, but budget is a factor. What say the hive?

Been years since I've been to A.C., but by all accounts it's a hole. Maryland Live seems to be the popular casino destination around central Virginia. Been to one in the Poconos and it wasn't much. I hear the one in Allentown, PA is better. Amazing how many poker players I know.

not to plug the place I work at.. but the only three places worth visiting in AC are the Borgata (where I work) Golden Nugget, and Tropicana. Of the three, only the Borgata has entertainment 7 days a week.. which is one of the reasons we make more money than all the other casinos in AC combined.

In reply to mad_machine: I was hoping you would chime in. No real idea on other entertainment.

At present I think I'm the only person in the group without a passport. Otherwise Montreal would be an option. Would that be reason enough to finally get one?

Indians. Once you've been there the big ones in Vegas seem small. Also tons to do besides gamble-like eat the best pizza on the planet.

The area around them is nice too. Not far from the shore and Mystic/Groton for more to do.

+1 on borgata and trop. Maryland live is a trainwreck. National harbor should be nice once the casino opens. Horseshoe is ok.

I lived 10 min from Foxwoods when I was stationed in Groton and would have recommended it back then. It's been 15 years though, so I don't have current experience. Check what shows are going to be there when you are planning your trip, they get some good ones.

But, if you are there the Mystic aquarium is well worth the trip, and I would also recommend the submarine museum in Groton. The Nautilus is still pretty awesome 50+ years later.

Another vote for the Borgata but I haven't been many other places.

Yes, Montreal is berkeleying awesome. Excellent food, excellent bar scene, and (I hear) the strip clubs are legendary, if that kind of entertainment appeals to you. I'm not much of a gambler myself, so I can't speak to the casino scene.

I'd recommend Sands in Bethlehem, PA. Decent amount of restaurants, entertainment schedule is somewhere. There is an industrial museum nearby I highly recommend also.

He is right and I don't work there.

The Revel was really nice but when I arrived in the fall of 2014 it was really unsettling to see $2.5 billion sitting there dark.

The Borgata took in our conference on 4 weeks notice.

If the Borgata took your conference, and you needed power for anything, you probably saw me. When I am not laying out power for concerts and such, I am dropping power for toasters and laptops

Probably did - we had all sports of projectors, laptops etc.

It was a conference for Facilities folks from all over the East. We had the Jersey Boys at our wrap up dinner.

I honestly thought that Atlantic City casinos closed down years ago. Good to hear that they are hanging on.

Maybe not; this is a five year old zombie thread.

It was dying before Covid. With Covid it's a Zombie Town.  Go to Vegas if you need to gamble.

Or the MS coast, things are pretty hopping over here right now. There are 9 casinos within about 4-miles of each other, and a few more spread further out. I like to think of it as the Redneck Riviera.

I thought the Florida Panhandle was the Redneck Riviera. I guess you can throw in the Alabama Coast around Mobile too. I think it's all on Highway 10. Is MS the only state where casinos are legal?

I believe it is, I've not seen any casinos or signs for them along I-10 in AL/FL, but they're all over here in MS.
