Bring your sand tires. Flatwoods is fun but there are some soft sections. Also, I just found that Alafia State Park has some nice looking trails.
LMK if you have time to grab some eats before or after your ride. I'm in Dunedin but can easily meet you somewhere.

Fun. I'm driving from PA to Stuart on Wednesday and Thursday to meet my elderly parents (with their car) who are flying down to PBI on Friday afternoon.
Did you get in to town ok?
We've been getting rained on all day but it started getting worse after 4 or so.
Earlier tonight several condos on beachside were forcibly evacuated by law enforcement due to fears they would collapse during the storm. I've seen some videos floating around of the intracoastal eating up peoples' yards and even washing away whole in-ground swimming pools too. Town's going to look a lot different after this one, and I don't think I'll be sleeping tonight.
12:40 a.m. update: Touch wood, not too bad (yet). Some periods of heavy rain, but nothing like the last one (so far).
We're a whopping 20-something feet above sea level, plus our ground drains quickly. Supposedly the highest point in the county is around the corner.
So now, we wait.
But it does look like things will get exciting here around 4:00 this morning.
I'm on the inland side of the county, not too bad here. My house is in a kind of protected location.
Gusts aren't shaking the house, guessing in the 40s, steady rain but not a deluge. Can't tell if the driveway is backing up with water yet, I don't have a good view from the house.
edit: I can see the tree tops now, probably gusts in the 60s
Seeing posts that at least one condo on beachside has started collapsing.
Power here blinking on and off a bit and it looks like we're in the middle of the worst rain and wind bands we're likely to get. Rainfall is horizontal but seems to be draining away properly so far, fingers crossed.

Just hanging out at a Disney resort for the day. Luckily today was going to be a relaxed day, did everything earlier this week.

Not yet, went from MD to Florence SC yesterday after work, now leaving Waffle House to head south. Going to keep the gas tank above half, 550 miles to go.

Feeling the wind now and its been raining, 10 miles north of Tampa.
No powerloss, based on the news, seems theres some in Hillsborough County that have lost power, but less in Pasco where I am at. Then again, I seem to only lose power during clear sunny days....
Windy here in Ormond but not much of a mess outside.
Power and internet still here, too.
It has been POURING in Gainesville since ~7 am. Not very windy though.
The wind is now knocking down the dead stuff left in the trees from Ian. Two branches just fell out back but nothing bad. We have a thick tree canopy, so probably don't need to be outside right now.

For some reason the office was not closed. Last time I drove an hour in a tropical storm or higher I was in high school and headed to my gf's hoping for what all high schoolers hope for when they are with their gf. Today I did it for a paycheck.
:sigh:
Little Manatee River at 75 looked like it was up a solid 5 feet or so.
During Ian, we could hear the wind just whistling–and for, seemingly, hours on end.
This morning has been windy but nothing like that. Sounds like it's getting calm out, in fact.
The coast did take a pounding, though. No puddling at all in our yard.

Man, I remember sitting and listening to the wind rumble during Ian for like 20 hours. I didn't know if it was ever going to stop LOL.
Glad this wasn't too terrible for most folks. My buddy north of Stuart said he has power, no trees down, no flooding. That's good.
We've had a fair bit of wind, but only a few really strong gusts. Wind direction has changed from N to W. Not as much rain as I thought we would get, but there is still time for it to pull from the gulf. We still have power, etc. but three streets West of me there is a block of 467 houses that don't. Crossing fingers.

My in-laws on Jekyll Island are getting a pretty big high tide right now. A beach access ramp is already ripped away by the waves and low spots on the back side of the island are flooding.
Our dog trainer just posted a pic from outside her place, and the water is covering the bottom of her front door. She was flooded during Ian. Hopefully the water didn't get past the sandbags. She's not entering until the waters recede.
Too soon, Vans, too soon.

Have I mentioned I work in the flood mitigation field? If she wants better than sandbags, shoot me a PM and I'll put her in touch with the sales dept.

Its still raining here, but the winds have calmed down. Luckily they made going into the office today optional because seeing friends driving out in that weather, no thanks...
Now to see how badly flooded the passenger floor will be on my broken Civic coupe. Was too lazy to cover it again like I did for Ian...
Welp, the large, dead branch that landed on our porch roof just blew to the ground.
The glitch fixed itself.
We're back at work as of 1400. Good safety rules in place so I think we're doing much better than Ian. Amazed still that people see me walking around with a hard hat and they don't even consider why. Already told one customer that I wouldn't just be standing around outside.

Yup. No need to stand under loose limbs.
