Okay, I'm kind of bringing this topic back from the dead, but here is a story about a biology teacher at my old high school who is integrating evolution into his curriculum without condemning creationism. For those in the NE/west you probably don't face opposition to evolution in public school like we do in the south, and it gives a pretty clear look of what teachers are up against.
Yeah, everyone knows there evidence for evolution is sparse and spotty. That's why creationism makes far more sense, because there is so much more observable, repeatable, supporting evidence.
It is troubling how much trouble the clueless cause. I had a amazing teacher in the 7th grade. She took a class of kids on a science field trip to her home to see her aquariums. Apparently there were beer cans out where the kids could see them. Her contract wasn't renewed for the next year. Yeah, having your kids not see beer cans is much more important than their learning anything.
I just read this entire thread and could find no redeeming value whatsoever except one single shining nugget of such awsomeness that I was forced to use it several times in a sentence. I want to thank Jason for introducing the word Douchenozzle to my vocabulary. I am smitten.
