Nope. Never have flown into Catalina airport. Sounds like good burgers. I'd hate to see what a buffalo would do to an airplane.

I really believe in the potential for alcohol fuel. And my thinking is really simple. In all of nature, everything stores and accesses energy in the form of carbohydrates, which is another word for hydrocarbons. All that carbohydrate energy comes from the sun. Plants are evolved to be the most efficient factories for converting and storing that solar energy. Ideally, we'll either model their same processes, or we'll just harvest the suckers themselves and convert them as directly as possible into an easily-burnable hydrocarbon: alcohol!

I agree with you regarding alcohol fuels, Salanis. Actually, you can make methanol from anything, from what I've been reading. As in rake the lawn, process, methanol for the fleet. The carbon stuff is burned to carbon monoxide, which is combined with water, run over a catylist, out comes methanol.

I've sailed to Catalina. I saw the buffalo there in the early 70's. You know why there are buffalo on Catalina? A movie company brought them there in the 20's to film a western. They went bankrupt and left the buffalo.
