In reply to dculberson:
You didn't state the obvious. You called him "overweight out of shape windbag drug addict knows about "hard manliness" can't be measured with a micrometer or a gram scale".
How do you know what he knows about hard manliness? You don't
You aren't as successful as he is. You can pretend you are but you aren't. If I had meant rich I would have said rich. I said what I meant.
Thanks for stating your opinion as fact though. For being the anathema to you, you sure did try to make him look like a lesser man because he is a "overweight out of shape windbag drug addict". You don't detest that much if you are so willing to engage in such attacks. But this one really proves you aren't as against it as you falsely claim to be "I'm more successful than him." That right there is your own admission that you think you are better than he is.
Good lord. If we can't agree Rush Limbaugh is a fat, pompous windbag, what can we agree on?
Why did such a nice story become a flame war, what is going on in this forum nowadays, you guys have got to calm down and get back to having some fun...
I am so disappointed in this forum lately.
Trolls and flounders are not why we come here, go argue someplace else.
ThePhranc, I'm sorry if I offended you. I have strong feelings against people like Limbaugh who bad mouth people in less empowered positions than themselves. He takes it upon himself to criticize people that do not have the ability to reach as large an audience in defending themselves. I realize that there's then some irony in my criticizing him.
By my measure of success, Limbaugh is not successful at all. He is obviously unhappy, spends most of his time railing against other people, worrying about what they're doing despite it having no effect on him, and holds strong convictions opposing that which he himself is guilty of doing. Obviously he's not happy if he spends his free time blitzed out on dissociative drugs. (Well, did until he was caught.)
Anyway, I really didn't expect anyone to take criticism of him personally.

That's what Rush lives for, and what he does.
But really, I don't see flaming and trolling of each other here in this thread. Others, certainly. But mostly folk seem to think what this runner did was quite cool and admirable.

You didn't offend me. I didn't take it personally either.
By your own standards you aren't happy either since you railed against Rush. Do you have strong feelings against your self for bad mouthing Rush? It's not irony its bald face hypocrisy.
So you hate rush for doing what you do. And you must not be happy because you act just like he does and you know he isn't happy. And you hate thinking people are better then others but state that you are more successful than Rush thus being better then him.
It's nice for you to clear all that up.

It reminds me of when some softball team helped an opposing player who hurt her self run the bases by carrying her from base to base.
wow...just wow...I still love this forum, but sweet tapdancing jesus, what the hell?!?!?
I guess everyone has a bad day from time to time. I hope I haven't played a part in the E36 M3ification of the forum. No ill will to Phranc but I think he needs to chill out a bit.

I think you need to stop being such a rank hypocrite. But I can understand why you think I need to chill out. Maybe I'd think that too of the person who just made me look like raging hypocrite tool and showed me I was everything I claimed to be against.

OK, you're certainly being a nice, helpful person today. I'll be sure to go home and cry myself to sleep over your deep, insightful wisdom.
The Phranc, do you really want to be the reason that the thread about the selfless young athlete gets locked? Dculberson has been more than accommodating of your viewpoint, in spite of your tirade. Unless you have something to contribute to the subject of the original post, I would like to politely ask you to stop.
Phranc, I am not so polite, shut the berkeley up,
What the berkeleying berkeley?

And as for the actual reason the post was made, that girl did what a true competitor and sportsman is supposed to do, good for her! And a +1 to the rules people at the meet for using common sense and not rules mongering.

Yes!! I hope I am not being too controversial in saying: that was awesome!
