[Josey meets with Ten Bears to negotiate a truce]
Josey Wales: You be Ten Bears?
Ten Bears: I am Ten Bears.
Josey Wales: I'm Josey Wales.
Ten Bears: I have heard. You are the Grey Rider. You would not make peace with the Bluecoats. You may go in peace.
Josey Wales: I reckon not. Got no place else to go
Ten Bears: Then you will die.
Josey Wales: I came here to die with you. Or live with you. Dying ain't so hard for men like you and me. It's living that's hard when all you've ever cared about has been butchered or raped. Governments don't live together--people live together. With governments, you don't always get a fair word or a fair fight. Well, I've come here to give you either one or get either one from you. I came here like this so you'll know my word of death is true, and my word of life is then true. The bear lives here, the wolf, the antelope, the Comanche. And so will we. Now we'll only hunt what we need to live on, same as the Comanche does. And every spring, when the grass turns green, and the Comanche moves north, you can rest here in peace, butcher some of our cattle, and jerk beef for the journey. The sign of the Comanche, that will be on our lodge. That's my word of life.
Ten Bears: And your word of death?
Josey Wales: It's here in my pistols and there in your rifles. I'm here for either one.
Ten Bears: These things you say we will have, we already have.
Josey Wales: That's true. I ain't promising you nothing extra. I'm just giving you life and you're giving me life. And I'm saying that men can live together without butchering one another.
Ten Bears: It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life. [Draws his knife and cuts his and Josey's palms, then grasps hands with him, becoming blood brothers] So will it be.
Josey Wales: I reckon so.

Lone Watie: [realizes Josey has snuck up behind and pulled a gun on him] They said a man could get rich on reward money if he could kill you.

Josey Wales: Seems like you was looking to gain some money here.

Lone Watie: Actually, I was looking to gain an edge. I thought you might be someone who would sneak up behind me with a gun.

Josey Wales: Where’d you ever get an idea like that? Besides it ain’t supposed to be easy to sneak up behind an Indian

Lone Watie: I’m an Indian, all right; but here in the nation they call us the “civilized tribe”. They call us “civilized” because we’re easy to sneak up on. White men have been sneaking up on us for years.

Lone: ...long pause...I might have missed.

See, now I have to go watch that movie again.

James: So this engine will take a 150 shot of nitrous?

Dude selling Katana 600 engine: Oh, berkeley, no. You're talking about an engine that made 60 horsepower stock.

James: So a 100 shot?

Dude: No stock bike motor is taking a 100 shot

James: It only has to go down the 1/8th mile three times.

From the article Margie linked about the Florida Shuffle:

"They would make new friends; find low-stress recovery jobs, waiting tables in diners, folding jeans at the mall, or answering phones at a call center; and subscribe to the Twelve Steps."

The person who thought of that sentence obviously never waited tables, worked retail or answered phones in a call center. Any one of those jobs can suck the life from you.

I think there's a lot to be said for those particular jobs. Yes, they're stressful. I've done them all. HOWEVER- they don't require a lot of thought. I know one of the biggest things in addiction recovery is learning how to think again. Sometimes your brain gets rewired. Just about anyone can fold a shirt and get yelled at.

The part I don't understand is the only places easier to find drugs are schools and prisons. I've never worked in a sober kitchen, the call centers were all party places because calling people sucks so much, and working in a mall? That's what drove me to drinking in the first place. That's what makes me think the writer has never had any of those jobs.
