And I mean real motion controlled simulators. Are there any still out there?

Could they be linked together so that you could race each other?

iRacing won't work even if it could be attached to a simulator.

Sure, it just takes lots and lots of money:

They are so expensive they don't even have pricing on their website.

I am sure I've seen a reasonably priced unit (that's a relative term) in the past couple of years, but I can't find one anywhere.

I've never seen any data about the ability to link them together so 2 people can race each other.

Finally, this guy build his own collimated projection screen for true wrap around viewing:

As with many expensive toys, if there is a will, there is a way.

Linking them together is exactly the same as playing a driving sim at a LAN party, except with motion simulators.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

But I just found out the first link prices are $45,000-$85,000. I was hoping for closer to $20k.

Now to go read up on the homebuilt links.

Say you want to play against someone else in a driving game with a motion sim so two people can race each other, both with motion simulation. You have 2 computers, a crossover cable or wired LAN router, and 2 motion simulator systems w/ wheels and pedal setups.

You put the two computers on the same network, plug a wheel, pedal and motion sim into each computer, launch the sim on both computers, one computer typically hosts a multiplayer network game and the other joins. Then you play to your heart's content.

Force Dynamics was kind enough to send me this link.

She says they are under $20K, but not as much range of motion as the Force Dynamics sims.

First, here's a guy building his own.

Second here's a couple of head to head racers on the Blue Tiger.

What could you charge if you had a set up like this in an establishment?

Most arcades charge at least $1.00 per person for the racing games.

For something more like what you're building, then maybe I'd charge $5.00/race.

Has anyone actually seen and put hands on any of the racing simulators?

Only commercial arcade systems where the seat only tilts around a little bit, closer to the DIY setup above.

You'll need to log in to post.
