HI all,

A quick search on this forum did not show up much, so here is a new post (I might not have used the best search terms). The subject line asks the question. I got a new PC coming that will run Live for Speed, iRacing, etc and now I need the wheel and pedals. I"m choking on the cost of a Logitech G27 but I'm willing to consider it if the alternatives are not worth the money.

What do folks have and what do you think about it?

Thanks.

I have an older Logitech MOMO in Leather that I've been thinking about parting with. Not sure if it would be up to spec for your needs, though.

I use a Logitech Driving Force Wheel with USB hookup on my PS3 and PC. That works great, but doesn't have a clutch pedal. I'd love to have a clutch pedal to make it more realistic. The newer version (Driving Force GT?) of the wheel I have can be had for $100-$130. Logitech says it's not windows compatible, but I'd bet if you did some research that people have probably used it on a PC without issues.

I just nabbed an old thrustmaster NASCAR wheel and pedal combo from the "swap shop" at our local transfer station (a.k.a. dump). Even came in the original box! Not sure what I'll do with it just yet, but if it's free . . .

I'm still rocking my Act-labs wheel with the 7-speed gated shifter. It and the Logitech G27 are the two wheels I'd consider buying by name. Everything else is either way too expensive (serious simulation) or just cheap stuff that carried over from the console world and is better than a joystick or a keyboard.

Heck, for just goofing around, I do still have the PC version of this:

and it worked pretty well since the controls weren't merely switches.

Oh and there is an Act-Labs Force RS on eBay:

Just needs the improved pedals (with the clutch pedal) and it would be just about right.

The Sim Racing Tonight web show likes the Fanatec Porsche wheels over the G25/27

Actually I see they just posted a 5 wheel shootout this weekend, I would trust what they have to say. I have been watching for about a year now and they don't appear to be paid off like some "online journalists" you see these days.

if you are choking on the price of a G27 you might be able to get a cheaper G25. after the G27 came out i got my G25 for like $200, and its pretty similar. i do wish i had those extra wheel buttons... but not $100 worth of wishing.

Thanks all for the valuable input.

After looking at all the options, I purchased a G27 that I found online for $233. What the heck, I'll probably be working overtime this weekend and that will pay for the wheel.
