Surprised nobody has brought this one up yet...

1953 - a whopping 150hp 6cyl, 2 speed auto trans. 0-60 in a glacial 11 seconds. It would get whipped by a Honda Fit.

2015 - 650hp monsterous and snorting V8, every day civilized, and can keep up with "exotics" costing twice its' price.

No, not really. Almost nothing in common between the two. One is a minimalist sports car, the other is effectively a 2 seat GT car. The Cayman is the modern 911.

Remember your history. Back in 1965 the Porsche faithful were nashing their teeth in anguish as the new 911 was just a big fat bloated GT car compared to their beloved small light weight 'real' Porsches. I'm with Keith on this one. The ethos and execution is exactly the same given 50 years of technology, safety, emissions and customer’s needs.
