Bear in mind that mph is calculated from a sensor and magnet located on the spur gear, factoring in gear ratio and tire roll out. No consideration for hi-speed tire ballooning, wheel-spin or braking. A gps sensor is available, but reliable gps triangulation is sketchy out here.
With the advent of brushless motors and lithium battery technologies, speeds are getting crazy!! Check YouTube for XO-1 speed runs. Gas/alky runners are converting their cars to brushless for more speed! Even 1/5 scale buggies!
Even in scale aviation brushless/lithium is starting to take over. My brother is a nationally ranked line controll aerobatics flyer and even he's getting pushed into brushless/lipo!
