I can't believe nobody has suggested....

Last time I was at Harry's, I ran into a guy that had traveled all the way down from Canada. Not kidding!!! Made me feel a little less abnormal for traveling 2 hours to get there.
Nearby, there's the Eckley Miner's Village Museum...

And, you aren't far from Weatherly Hillclimb (Sept 13-14)
Screw the Yuengling Brewery. I mean, they're cool and all, but go to the Troegs Brewery in Harrisburg, tours at 2pm every Saturday, 6 free samples of beer that makes Yuengling actually taste like "Pottsville pisswater" (the locals call it that), and the guys are cool.
Haig's Diner in Shartlesville off of I-78. Its a must.
Lucy's in Hershey. Good italian.
Gap Diner in Gap.
Otherwise, Lancaster is very neat. Visit Bird-in-hand and a few of the other local villes. If you like cheesy entertainment with blue-haired clientelle and salty buffets, do the theaters like Dutch Apple. The Christian theaters put on some spectacular shows if that's your flavor.
I grew up in Carlisle (in fact that's where I am right now) so I can safely say that Harrisburg has little to offer.
I haven't been there, even though I grew up in Pa. but Bird-in-hand was mentioned either on PBS or in my local 'paper recently...think it was PBS. Something about a great farmer's market or a great restaurant....need to up the drug doseage again.
Harrisburg has little to offer? From reading the online version of my hometown 'paper (I'm currently living in Tn. but grew up in Bradford county)....there's a lot of "funny business" going on in the capital at Harrisburg, no one is laughing tho.

I was born in Pottsville, and we do not call it that.

Harrisburg has 2nd Street which is about all the nightlife. Two pubs, two clubs, a few other assorted bars and restaurants.
crystal cave in Kutztown is pretty cool. It's a shame Reading is such a dump, the view from the pagaoda is wonderful.
Nobody mentioned the Philly Art Museum?
Over on the Jersey side of the river in Camden (don;t stop anywhere) is the USS New Jersey. Neat battleship

Never heard of Troeg's Brewery... and besides... there are a lot of beers better than Yuengling... but none have been around as long... or produce as much... Yuengling Porter and Black and Tan isn't bad. The tour is neat. I enjoyed it.
The Museum or Art is cool... although I like the Museum of Natural History more... and while somewhat kiddy-oriented, the Franklin Institute Science Museum is fun.
The Mercer Museum in Doylestown is worth checking out for "GRM types". No easy way to describe it... just a building full of STUFF... litterally packed to the rafters... tons of old tools...

+1 for Mercer Museum. The James Michener Art Museum is literally right across the street from it. Fonthill is not too far down the road either. It was Henry Mercer's home for many years. Random fact for the day=Henry Ford himself loved Fonthill so much that he offered to buy the house outright and transplant it to Dearborn, Michigan as is.

I'm still mad at the allegation that locals call Yuengling "Pottsville Piss Water." Maybe some jabronie in Philadelphia calls it that, but no one from Schuylkill County does, I can assure you of that.

They can call it anything they want. It's still yummy.

My only gripe with Yuengling is that you can't get Lord Chesterfield and the Porter in the 4 pack of 16 oz. pounder cans or even the 12 oz. cans. Other than that, i'm happy as long as they don't cease Lord Chesterfield, Porter and Black and Tan..

Lord Chesterfield's Ale is my favorite.

Unfortunately (and suspicously) Lucy's burned down a few months ago...
