Lemme guess, they did have at least 427 different craft IPAs.

They also didn't know what an Irish Car Bomb was. My best friend, my other friend's fiancée and myself were all going to do one to finish off the night. Once the bartender finally paid attention to me, I asked for three Irish Car Bombs and she goes "Huh?" It was loud so I assumed she didn't hear me. I repeated my order and she stared and went "....I....don't know what that is." I patiently said its a glass of Guinness and a shot of Bailey's and she looked at me, went over to the other bartender, came back and goes "I don't think we have that." As she's saying that I can see the digital register screen behind her with a selection for "Car Bomb". I just gave up, got another Jack & Coke and returned to attempting to put someone's eye out with a dart.
Bailey's and Jamison in a shot glass that goes into a pint of Guinness to be clear. Delicious!
The first one hits while finishing the 2nd one. Good times. No, great times!

TIL Stampie sent his package to China.

You get it where ever you can.

Nice. That is actually kind of sane.
TIL that filtered through a breakroom door, parts of Styx's "Suite Madam Blue" sound a lot like Overkill's "Years of Decay".
Not enough that I thought the classic rock station was actually playing Overkill, but it sounded very reminiscient.
TIL again that there's a reason why I have my own truck for customer deliveries.
Van based small box truck with F950 springs on back. Are those masks hanging on the shifter new? Used? Who left it with 1/32 tank of gas? Why change oil?
Today i learned people with a premium white pages account can find my address and CELL phone number.
Leaves me wondering if the reverse is possible.
TIL: Colt still manufactures the M1873 SAA. They have whittled down the caliber choices to .357 and 45LC only, but still offer all 3 barrel choices (4.75, 5.25, 7.5"). That's one heckuva production run (1872-1941, 1954-1974, 1976-current). 134 years with the same design.

That can't be right. I'd love to see the source. That'd be 28,800 in one day, and 10.5 million each year.
Forty thousand Fords and Chevys every day?
Today i'm learning whether the forum filters catch everything.

No matter how much you think you know about extrusion, there is always more. You think you have all the parameters and then boom looky looky...

TIL you can put tires on a canoe.
TIL: Roy Disney was actually Walt's big brother.
I had always assumed that since Walt died, the fact that Roy took the helm of the company was due to him being kind of the "heir" in family age. But they built the company together with Walt as the idea guy and Roy as the operations guy. Roy was a protective big brother apparently, even as kids. Roy came out of retirement after Walt died and saw through the completion of Disney World. Once it was open (and named Walt Disney World in Walt's honor) Roy passed away two months later.
The guy pretty much willed himself to live long enough to finish his little brother's dream. Damn, who's cutting onions in here....

Yeah there's some tragic stuff in that family, Walt bought his parents a house after he got successful and it led to the death of his Mother because of a leak with the furnace: https://www.thevintagenews.com/2017/12/12/walt-disneys-mother-2/
The period of time when they were at risk of being taken over and broken up was an interesting time as well. There's some good Youtube videos on that.

TIL that another forum member works in the same space/industry as me. That's pretty cool.
TL;DR TIL: mistranslations are still hilarous
I keep tabs on the local HiBid online auction inventories to see if any interesting LEGO sets come up at a good price, either to be able to turn around and sell, as presents for the younger members of my extended family, or (decreasingly so, given I'm largely out of space for them...) for myself. Checking in on it today, there was only one result: a (presumably Chinese) knock-off brand set called Qman- but that I thought was pretty amusing because a) the minifigures are done in much more of an anime style and b) because it's like $2 right now.
This got me to curious so I searched aroud for some of the other sets- and though the bricks are clearly direct copies of many of the LEGO ones, they do have some interesting sets. But I got the biggest kick out of the following, clearly mis-translated promo picture:
Having looked at some of the sets, this really should be 'Combined Transformation/Transforming' because the sets are basically like the Constructicons or Vehicle Voltron in that a number of smaller ones combine to make a larger mecha. They're actually pretty cool- but I'm also going to be chuckling at 'Combined Deformation' for far longer than I should be...

Seriously.
I tried to convince one of my nephews that
was in fact Donut Pass and that the road we were on was so named because earlier settlers were trapped there one winter and survived mostly on donuts.
That a Ford Taurus Police Interceptor is actually not bad at all. The suspension was nicely controlled and the 3.5 L V6 is entertaining even without boost.
TIL that our local hospital system is paying RNs triple their base rate for any overtime hours, and they still can't get them filled.
Burnout is real, and it is going to cost everyone.

A friend of mine is an OR nurse. She hasn't worked a normal week in over a year, and now they have been sending her to other hospitals in addition to her own. I have no idea how she keeps doing it.

I've heard a ton of stories like that, and they've all made me... well, frankly, scared and worried. This one struck me because the nurse that told me about it said they still can't fill shifts, and said that the vaccine mandate isn't really effecting their staffing.
<politics>If this keeps up, it is going to bankrupt us, or else lead us to universal healthcare - I'm not sure which one scares me most. </politics>
