TIL that Patrick is coming back from the Challenge with twice as many transmissions for me as I was expecting.

Cool so you got the other two in addition?  I feel like the GRM matchmaker sometimes. "Hey do you know someone that can use some rx7 transmissions?"  "Why yes I do."

So it's YOUR fault!

I mean, uh, thank you!

I'm wondering what it says about you. Obviously people are dumping their stash of rotary transmissions because they weren't needed. Yet you seem to have a habit of breaking them.

I got to break out the "Go berkeley yourself" I can't use much at home anymore. I was at the machine getting robbed for a parking space when a guy stood directly infront of the "We have no parking attendant" sign and told me he was the parking attendant.  Really berkeleyer, does that look like a damned turnip truck I just got out of?

was it the lot behind the church at broadway and 7th (iirc)?  because i encountered a "parking attendant" standing next to the machine, telling me the machine was broken but i could give him cash.

A good friend of mine actually manages to pay his bills with country music ... "Oh we pay you in exposure" ... The whole cottage industry of waving a carrot in front of an aspiring artists face and charging them to take a swing at it is actually pretty impressive down there.

i saw a pretty good no-name band last time i was there.  they walked around with the tip jar and "we'll play your request for $20."  so I gave him $20 and asked for something by 3 Doors Down.  they played a savage Kryptonite and on their break he bought me 2 beers, which knocked a significant hole in that $20.

I have had good luck with rx7 transmissions by running idemitsu gear oil in them.

Went from getting crunchy within 1 race to lasting like 20 races.

Some bars still make sure to have only good acts. Roberts Western World springs to mind.

TIL that Formula Drift pro driver Odi Bakchis scored 497 points in total for the 2019 season. Of those, he scored 206 in the first two rounds of the year meaning his other six events only netted 291 points, or just under 49 points per round for rounds 3-8. That's why I always laugh when the announcers start saying he has a good shot at the championship after Long Beach and Atlanta, because he always starts the season off strong and then falls apart for the rest of the year. Which is fine by me.

Well yeah, you make actual power.  Like more than 9 torques.

My post was more for those who are casually dabbling in the na rx7 world...

TIL that The Who have a new album coming out next month. Heard one song from it on the radio, and honestly, it's pretty good. Although between the lyrics and the way Daltrey's voice has aged, at first I thought it was a Warren Zevon song. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.

I'm sure this is a blue law and probably seen elsewhere. First I knew.

TIL I had two leaks in the roof of the Disco that I didn't know about. One was a sunroof drain that came off due to a broken plastic tube. Easily fixed. The second was from the roof rails. The soft rubber seal on the passenger side was missing a corner. How either was able to leak and not alert me, I will never know.

Was talking to my dad yesterday afternoon when a small sport-type airplane flew over. He commented on it, and I said I'd been casually keeping an eye on small plane ads. He said he thought it would be great fun to have a taildragger, like an old Cub.

TIL: When you refund a Paypal payment they will only do it in the original currency.

When you do the refund PP no longer refunds the fees so you're automatically short the paid amount and if you don't have enough in the account to make up the difference, they pull the whole amount from your alternate payment source, whether it's a credit card or bank account.

I had more than enough in another currency in my PP account to cover it but they won't,

a) Convert it from another currency

b) Use what's in your account and to up from another source. It has to be the whole amount

So they pulled money from an account that I only use to transfer money out of PP and there was no balance. The bank dinged me a $5 overdraft fee so I bitched enough that PP gave me $5 so I would shut up and go away.

Today you learned (TYL) that I really hate Paypal.
