This is a beautiful car. I've always wanted one of these.
I see what you did there. Therefore, you would make your life great again with a vehicle like that. Might you also be considering a Triumph Victory?
If you want a TR6, buy one now. They are starting to creep up in price, with the nicest ones bringing $25-$35K. Good drivers can still be had from $10-$15K.....sometimes less if you look hard enough.
I love em---- driving one feels like you are piloting a WWII fighter plane--- great noises, good torque, and with a little work they can handle well. They have their flaws, but what car doesn't?
One of the best-looking factory hard-tops ever. I'd like to get one, but I hardly ever put the top up....so I'm not sure it would get much use. Here's mine:

I agree.
TR6s have been on my radar ever since the 80's. There were two at my high school, one BRG and one yellow. They were always just out of reach though. They never got cheap like MGs and Spitfires.
Woody---true, they never got really cheap, but at least they didn't get crazy expensive like the big Healeys did. The MGC and TR6 are about the last of the 6-cyl LBCs that are still relatively affordable.
I have a much older cousin who's first ex-wife (total bitch) told me that she bought one new. Maybe it was a function of the British Leyland problems at the time but she said that the car was a real nightmare when it was new. She said that it never ran right and everything rattled all the time.
On a side note, I'm fairly certain that she didn't look hot driving around in it with the top down, even when she was young.
That's a nice car. You really do not want a junky TR6. As with most cars, it's better to spend more up front than fix everything as it breaks. Even if it's in great shape, you'll probably be dealing with a steady supply of things to do. But they are fairly rugged cars compared to other British fair (thinking of you, Lotus).
Unless you were referring to recent events, in which case the reply is "too soon".
I see what you did there...
Congrats.
Now, british cars.. I dunno. I stick with the Asian variety so they run.
That does look like a nice car and for a decent price.
I disagree some about the hardtop. I think the Spitfire hard top looks better. The hardtop on my Spitfire hasn't been off since I bought the car, although there are other reasons for that.

Maybe she did through beer goggles.

Knowing my cousin, they may have been coke goggles. Small "c"...
I miss mine. It did rattle, but not as much as my TR4. The flag is a correct. I know Big Healey's have gone way up in price, but after driving one, I'm not sure they are worth THAT much more than a good TR6. I always thought TR6's were underrated.
But thanks for the thread...now I'm looking at Alfas and TR6's..
They changed from a simple TR6 to the union jack decal in '73.
The TR4 was a Michelotti design. The TR6 was a re-skin of the TR4 body by the German firm Karmann.

IIRC Triumph (or BL) told them "we have no money". Make the 4A frame and central body work.
In reply to spitfirebill:
I'm not sure it's full re-skin... I'd swear the only difference is the front clip.

Ok, you got me! But aren't TVR's kind of like poorly built kit cars?
