Cole Porter
I like a lot of the music in "The Great American Songbook." Cole Porter is a favorite. Problem is, any recording from the era (twenties) sucks. Because of the poor recording quality of the day, he sounds dorky. But the music was good. So I loved it when the movie Midnight In Paris actually featured Conal Fowkes playing the part of Cole Porter. He played and sang the music as Cole Porter did. But it sounds better with modern equipment.
Oh, and anybody who's a fan of Blazing Saddles might recognize some of the lyrics of this song used by Harvey Korman in the movie.

Louis Doing Cole
I know that doesn't sound family friendly, but it's exactly what it is. Louis Armstrong's voice is perfect for this spectacular Cole Porter song from the twenties. Louis made a great blues song of it thirty years later.

I just found out my local library has two collections of Dr. Demento...
The Band man. All freaking weekend. When I paint my masterpiece, the weight, the fantastic concert from the 70s where Van Morrison came out to do a few.
And a lot of Bob Dylan cause I heard a commercial he sold a song for this weekend and have had The man in me and tangled up in blue stuck in my head since.

Satch Plays Fats
Louis Armstrong, AKA "Satchel Mouth," and thus "Satchmo," and thus "Satch" is playing Fats Waller music (and thus "Fats") on this album.

My music choices have been all over the place lately. Mostly listening to the new Freddie Gibbs and Madlib album with some Frightened Rabbit and Sufjan Stevens thrown in.

I'm gonna holler, and I'm gonna scream, I'm gonna get me some mescaline, and then I'm gonna rhyme that with gasoline, a drunken poets dream.
