So, I'm finally finishing up "DiRT" on the 360, to feed some rally-hunger, but im mising games like the "WRC" game for PS2. Theres no this-generation sim rally games, and i miss them.

So, seeing how the WRC has gotten a little... weird, would you play a Rally America style game? Like US rallies, RA drivers, etc. I think it would be alot of fun... how bout you guys?

I would, but what I really want is a Group B game. Let me drive the Celica Turbo in Kenya or the Lancia 037 in Greece. Seriously.

I find games like Dirt to be as fast as can be fun. speed it up any and i know i wouldnt play it.

Honestly, i would mind rallying something like the GRM saab in a video game... I tend to enjoy the slower stuff in rally...

But i see your point

A proper Group-B game would be fantastic, I reckon. The closest I've come is playing the rally-x tracks on Live For Speed. Pretending the fictitious "XR GT turbo" is a Lancia 037, and fiddling with the sound effects to mimic supercharger whine, etc.

Find a copy of Rally Trophy:

http://rally.jowood.com/rally-e/thegame.php?RubrikIdentifier=2

Has a good mix of old school cars, and a variety of fictitious stages. It's also old enough that it doesn't require a lot of PC HP.

Otherwise, a pack of Rally America cars/stages for Richard Burns Rally would be cool.

Yes!

I just looked at that 'Rally Trophy' game. Holy eff... A 96 V4? Now I have to get it just to drive my car in a game.

I played Rally Trophy obsessively on my PC for about four months. I even bolted a Logitic Leather MOMO steering wheel to my desk. And I always drove the Saab.

Then I never played it again.

Thumbs up to Rally Trophy, nonetheless.

Make a game that includes all types of rally cars, Group B, Neons, etc... and Pike's Peak freak-mobiles as well.

Be able to tweak them fully. Win.

And make the damage REALISTIC.

I hate Gran Turismo for that one reason.

Microsoft needs to bring back the Rallysport game, it was perfect!

I think a rally america game would be cool, it would need to include some of the not quite conventional cars that show up at american rallies too, and if it included Pikes Peak and hill climb specials that would be awsome.

They would have to include at least a few stages from Targa Newfoundland as well.

wasn't there a stand up (and sit down) rally game in the arcades about 10 years ago? It was one of those racing games that you could link together.

I remember two of the cars were a delta integrale and a Toyota Celica

I'd play. If I'd play that old EA Mobil 1 Championship, I'll play anything. I wish there were a way to do more "club racing" stuff in videogames. I'd love to do a virtual NASA CMC or refight the SCCA BProduction wars of the `70s. Heck, has there even been so much as a Formula Ford in a videogame?

I'd love to have a rally game with randomly generated tracks with only a computer co-driver coming across the speakers with "100, yump, 90 left..." to guide you. Have a few set tracks (maybe as rallycrosses) that you could learn on, but have the "stage" rallies be generated on the fly. Oh, and cockpit veiw only, none of that flying camera slightly above and behind the car crap.

I can't stand cockpit view in any racing game, especially rally games. I wish the chase view didn't let the car block what's coming, but cockpit view does not reflect real life and makes me nauseous. Maybe if they rotated the cockpit view to the direction the car was traveling(something like counter steering the driver's head), or some point between that it would be better. Actually, what they should do is use VR head tracking that lets you "look" where you want to within the cockpit.

I think Microsoft was really onto something with the Rallisport Challenge series. If they made a spiffy update for 360, it would be the best yet. It's more arcade-y than some, but the accurate simulation games (like Colin McRae for xbox) are too stiff and don't have enough feel.

Richard Burns rally with the 2009 mods done to it. It even has the Laughlin rally (I believe) in it (not RA, but it is American) as well as Travis Pastrana's mobile.

Yeah, a codriver would seal the deal, I don't know of any current rally games that have that feature. It would also be a good training feature for aspiring rally drivers too. Make a little box in the lower RH corner of the screen with the rally stage notes, and have a choice of actual codrivers voices too. It would be cool if a link to annother live player as codriver could be done as well.

pretty much all modern rally games have a co driver. atleast since ps2.

I dunno about the cockpuit view. never worked right, but i always wanted it, so i use the "front hood" view. closest to reality. just wish more games put the shift light infront of you.

Good call. I forgot about those stages in the RBR add-on. I think I'm behind a couple updates on it.
