That doesn’t sound all that promising.

I don’t think I’ve ever driven the Clio in PC2. Should be fun.

So anyone have any ideas for the next series that we can test?

We haven’t looked at street cars much. It would likely need to be a spec and one of the faster ones.

Tj an I tested a bunch of cars last night with an eye for a non tuner series. Found some excellent candidates. TJ can post up the list as he chose them.

The few street cars Dean and I tried were no good. We drove the Civic Type R and the Vette. That was enough to make me want to throw out the idea of a street car series.

Not sure if I remember everything we tried, but it seems like we both really liked the Ginetta GT4 car for a spec series. It is quite a bit slower than the GTE and GT3 cars, but not so slow to be boring. We could even do a series using mandated default setups if we wanted. I would personally rather have the ability to do setup work, but it would be something that would tend to even the playing field for those that don't have hours to waste practicing/tuning a car for a certain track each week. The Ginetta GT4 car on the default setup felt decent to both Dean and I.

The Ginetta GT5 is another choice with less power. I don't think we actually tried this one. This would be slow like Clio Cup without FWD and crazy oversteer I'm guessing.

We messed with the Clio Cup cars a bit. They are super slow and super oversteery/twitchy with the default setup. May be fun, but may also be a terrible pain in the butt. Our take on these was that track selection would be important and that there is a good chance we would end up with low participation with people just waiting the series out instead of racing. I did laugh a lot in the laps we drove these, just because it is fun to pull off some crazy but unintentional 90 degree drifts at times, but I personally don't think I would want to do a series with them.

Megane Trophy cars sound spectacular and were fun. Not crazy fast, but not slow.

The Ferrari 333 SP sounds spectacular and is fast. Maybe not the car to use for a series, but I'd still like to try it someday just to see how hard it would be to tame this car.

Porsche 908/03: This car was fun and not terrible to drive. Like the 333 SP, it would be a challenge to tame it, but not so crazy that it is undrivable. Limited liveries.

Seems like there was another contender that I am forgetting.

There was a Ferrari 488 car that had more hp but more weight than the the gte car that I liked. Something we could save for later as it is very similar to the gte cars performance and for me it would almost be boring as it was so similar to the GTE 488 I drove. Just heavier so it was less nimble but the added hp made it fun

The lupo cup car was a blast and driving it fast really is fun. Hanging out the back end is a blast but to get speed with it you need to keep that to a minimum as it scrubs off speed. It is very useful if you overlook a corner

Air. We tested some of the old cars and they drive like old cars. I think that would get boring after a while.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Ferrari challenge car and the older F355 or whatever number.

The Ferrari challenge cars seem like an obvious consideration.

I won't be around Wednesday for testing / playtime.

There's a Lambo challenge car as well.  It's fun and could be a non-tuner series.

Dean and I played with quite a few different cars last night. Our favorites were the Ferrari Challenge cars and the Ginetta GT4. The GT3 version wasn't bad but a bit manic. The Corvette C7.R was also quite good.

The Lambo Super Trofeo is God awful in stock form. The old Escort race car is fun but slow, would probably get boring. The Clio is decent to drive but the engine whine for 30 minutes would be headache inducing, and may be like the Escort. Neither of us liked the Megane much, but it may warrant a second chance. I feel like I'm missing some stuff, but those are the highlights.

Oh yeah, the Porsche. There is a vintage open top turbo Porsche we tried, Dean liked it more than I did but it wasn't terrible. You just have to drive it the way it wants to be driven or it doesn't work.

If we did the Ferrari challenge cars, we could make it multi class so we would be able to choose liveries between the North American, Asian-Pacific and Euro versions. That makes for a lot of choices. Then we could do the series with a three tracks from each of the three regions. Drivers who are from the track's region get to chose the date and weather. We could even have Brad's son draw names from a hat to assign each of us to a region, so that we end up with 'teams' of 2 from each region.

The other one I liked was a little AMG fwd race car.   I liked this better than the Clio cup car.

The Ginetta was interesting. The GT3 car was definitely a race car it had much more mechanical and aero grip. The GT4 car has a lot more street car feel to it. I liked both but for a series I would go with the GT4.

If I do another room for testing I think a 10 min practice and the a two lap race is what I would do. I would also only have 3-4 AI cars just to see how fast they are in a given car.

It was interesting that the AI was really fast in some cars and others they were really slow.

Looks like all three groups of Ferrari Challenge cars are in one class.

Do they have ABS and/or TC?

I’d like to do more testing with Ginetta GT4 and the Ferrari.

I did some remodeling of my rig last night. Need to move my pedals a bit to get them where I want them.  Easy to change things when it is made out of wood from my scrap pile.
