I think it is saying there are 10 classes of cars in the Career mode, not 10 classes in the game.

Wonder if they are trying to capitalize on everyone being home and the sudden popularity of Iracing.
I wonder about that also. Mainly that they are pushing this out as early as possible.
They really need to get it out soon though since it's likely one of the last big releases for the PS4. I am sure most everyone else has moved on the PS5. I am rather glad they did it for PS4 though. It was a few years ago, but the primary reason I went to PS4 was because of GT Sport / PC2 and that represented a fairly large chunk for a few games (fortunately I didn't need to get another wheel also).
Heck, if nothing else, this makes the PS4 viable to me a bit longer. I suspect there is a GT Sport update in the works also, but that will certainly be PS5.
GT7 is the PS5 title. They trademarked it the other day. We should see it on 6/11 when Sony officially debuts the PS5.

ACC comes out in a few weeks. As long as the console version stays true to the PC version, that will become the go to racing game for folks who want a simulator experience and not an arcadey experience. The downside of it is that it is only GT3 cars (GT4 cars coming soon as a DLC) and a limited number of tracks (only Blancpain series tracks).
I want GT5's + PC2's car list, PC2 physics, SimBin's AI, and NFS customization... is that too much to ask?
Throw in a Used Car Lot along with engine, transmission and suspension wear / repair. Heck, throw in a used upgrades "Craigslist".
Also, GTS paint and stickers.
Yes, that would be the $2020 Challenge mod.

I forgot about the Forza engine swaps... and while we are at it, let's add Live for Speeds' Autocross mode:
Oh wait! Forgot the big one (while we are dreaming):
TRACK DESIGNER! (with elevation editing)
(Heck, if they could add this to GT7, that could inspire a PS5 purchase)
So I'm not sure that PC3 is going to be something that sits well with this group for one major reason: they have eliminated tire wear, fuel usage, and pit stops.
"So, for example, by removing tyre wear and fuel usage, we could in turn remove pitstops, which resulted in much closer and more consistent racing. Thus, the whole process of getting to the part that matters most—the actual racing and driving of these amazing cars and their upgrades—became a far easier and more streamlined affair. All these game design decisions have had great results in terms of the racing— with the tyres at their optimal range all the time and fuel at optimal load, there is no break in the action to stop for more fuel or new rubber. It’s pure racing action, and it’s just made Project CARS 3 into a much better racing-driver experience."

I don't plan on pre-ordering it based on the trailers/game play footage, the statements from SMS and the track record of Codemasters buying an existing game franchise and then ruining it. I'll buy it after the fact if it seems worth buying.
Wow, that's a stupid decision. No pit stops, no tire pressure, no cold tires. Did they say no tire wear either! Sounds like with their fancy weather model the tires will just "morph" with the weather when it changes!
They should at least leave what is already there, and give an option not to use it even if that is the default.
So, no pit stops means no fuel, which means no endurance racing (or really stupid / boring ones). They are moving towards GT, which means GT will win, they will lose. Just dumb marketing if nothing else. Does GT sport have fuel and pit stops? I know the older versions did. Heck, it will likely have FEWER realistic features than GT!
So, with a new PC and a new GT coming out, how long will the old servers last? (GT seems to cut them off pretty fast)

argh
Looks like they may still have tire pressure. They are also "simplifying" the tuning, so no more complicated diff settings. I can see why you might want some sort of shortcut way of adjusting these (e.g. built in suspension tuner) but removing them entirely seem unnecessary.
Yeah, looks bad. PC as we know it is gone.
Maybe, PC4, on PS5 will return to sim, but probably not when this one bombs.
Prediction: Dean will NOT be pleased about this.
Ugh. I hadn't seen that. Someone saw the pit lane was blocked in a video, but it hadn't been confirmed at that time.
I'll probably still pick it up and do a real look at it. If it's garbage, what next? GT7 on the PS5? Move to PC?
In reply to BradLTL :
I'm with TJ on the PC thing. I'll likely move to PC instead of getting the next gen console as it's all around better for gaming, has more game options, and the true aliens in racing games are on PC.
That should work for me. I have a decent enough PC (i7 3.19 GHz - 32G RAM - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti) which should be fine even for higher end stuff (might need a video card upgrade for serious stuff).
I have my PS4 hooked up to the same monitor anyway. I suspect my G27 wheel will have no issues with a PC.
So... what PC Sim?
I would prefer something with a bit of customization available (Assetto Corsa?). I would love to play on some of the lesser known and historical tracks (e.g. Bridgehampton). I suspect some of the user made cars / tracks may not be super quality or accuracy, but it will make it hard to get bored.

I'd like to play the PC versions of ACC and Project Cars 2 since they both offer additional options compared to their console versions. I'd also like to try RFactor2. Zero interest in iRacing only due to their pricing model.
Of note, taking a quick look at Steam, they are having a (what seems to be) a very big sale on AC now! The sale ends July 9th, so we probably want to jump on this soon (at least purchasing it) if we are going that way. I would think going with the Ultimate Editions is the best way to go. Are all the car packs in that?
Anyone know if these are unusually low prices? (Steam tends to have some things on sale all the time):
Some quick observations I found:
AC:
More realistic physics, but has a tendency to understeer
Bigger community
More fun to race solo
Slightly more intense force feedback
PCars 2:
Better graphics
Unforgiving damage to cars
More fun to race against AI
AC is the better sim, PC2 is the better game. I think PC2 may be considered a bit too casual for this sub but the driving model is approachable and solid... and the variety afforded by dynamic weather and day/night cycles is second to none.
AC is a slick simulator with ridiculous mod support - heck even the core launcher for the game can be changed - but the environments are a bit lifeless and the game is starting to show its age. Although playing on outdated game engines is something you get used to in this hobby...
It boggles my mind that AC's AI gets a free pass whenever PC2's AI is brought up. PC2's AI can be insane but I think its far better than AC's AI that just form a rolling roadblock and follow each other around a pre-determined line at a predetermined speed. My biggest gripe with AC is that if you're not sifting through the thousands of servers to find somewhere to race online - then it's largely a hotlap simulator (albeit a damn good one).
Those are pretty decent Steam sale prices. If you keep an eye out in the future, you can get games for PC for stupid low amounts of money. And no need to worry about them going obsolete when a new console comes out :)
I got AC + Dream pack 1-3, PC2 + Japanese cars pack, Nascar heat 4, DiRT4, PC1 + Limited Edition, WRC 7, MXGP, Moto GP 15, and Road Redemption for a combined $13 from a recent Humble Bundle.
Honestly, AC vs PC2, I don't really nitpick too much. Whichever has people playing it will be more fun. They are both uber-cheap to get on PC so there is not much of a downside to getting both. And honestly, as long as a game isn't a super arcade racing game, I am happy just as long as everyone is on similar footing. I do it for a fun racing-like experience, I don't need a pure simulation.
Also to some extend I prefer locked setups. Tuning cars takes a ton of time in these games, and while I appreciate that sometimes, I also don't want to spend 1 hour tuning a car for a 15 min race. It definitely leads to an advantage to whoever has the time to tinker forever. Additionally tuning is often nothing like tuning in real-life.
I agree on the iRacing sentiments. I am not serious enough to do that or deal with the fee. I know there is are a few other leagues for AC and RFactor out there, but I haven't joined any of them. If anyone else here starts racing on PC I am happy to join in.
