I don't spend money on clothes. I have four pairs of pants. When I get a stain, it needs to come out.

I had grease from Tunatruck on my khakis when I foolishly went near the garage unarmed with grunge clothing. I looked and searched and tried all of the girly kitchen fixes, baking soda, rubbing alcohol, dish soap, powder soap, commercial stain remover. No good.

Tunawife told me that they were a total loss. I had washed them a half dozen times by this point.

I got it out with this.

I figured if a Fast Orange bar takes grease from your hands it would probably work on your laundry. A few vigorous rubs later, and a wash to complete, and it was gone.

Shampoo can sometimes work too and it is easier on the fabric.

Liquid hand cleaner also works well. Rub it into the stain, roll up article of clothing to keep the hand cleaner from drying too quickly and then wash normally.

First of all, that made me giggle more than it should have.

Brake cleaner has gotten some gnarly stuff out for me before. The main trick my mommy tought me was to never put it in the dryer until you check to make sure it got cleaned.

And that is why my clothes smell like coconut.

I've used engine degreaser on several occasions, hasn't destroyed any clothes yet.

Growing up I thought Simple Green was a laundry product because the only place I ever saw it was above my mom's washing machine. It wasn't until I joined the Navy that I found out it worked for other stuff.

I use dove liquid and coffee grounds myself. All I have are coffee colored brown pants anyhow, so I don't worry about the colors.

I had a super white shirt for my five year old. He rolled in ketchup (those with kids won't have any questions about that) and two doses of fast orange got it out no problem.

As a retired automotive engineer, with lots of grease and oil stains getting good clothes close to the dirty stuff, the best solution is "Brake Clean". It's like a Dry Cleaner in an Aerosol Can. I taught Automotive Classes in the evenings with lots of stains and the stuff works great. After that spray with Shout and put it in the wash.

Y'all are so funny! What about grease stains on nice clean light brown cloth Toyota Tundra driver's seat? Can't throw in wash, nor away if it doesn't work or removes all color. Knew I shoulda had seat covers before the next race.

Super Clean full strength in a spray bottle to spot treat before washing.

Better than Simple Green.

In reply to oldopelguy:

That's a late sixties Kadett side window in profile pic, oldopelguy. I'm one, too. Dad had a Kadett 1.1 liter commuter when I was in high school. I put a two-stroke motorcycle muffler on it, and GT door stripes like the Mustang. Dad called me the Mad Striper. Then a Manta Rallye was my first Solo Nationals ride, and next year a 1900 Sedan was my first trophy (3rd).
