Going out to do timing and scoring for a World Racing League event the weekend before Labor Day.  Keeping the rental car two extra days since it's $250 to fly back Wednesday instead of Monday.  What should I see while I'm out there?  Where should I eat?  It looks like there is construction and could be delays going into Rocky Mountain National Park from the East side, is it serious or minor?  Thanks!

Yes, it's a thing. It is incredible. Don't skip the meditation chamber.

A giant Mexican restaurant with indoor cliff diving shows made famous by a South Park episode.

There is gambling in Central City and Blackhawk which is a short drive West into the mountains.

16th Street Mall in Downtown Denver if you are into shopping.

Elitch Gardens if you like theme parks and water parks.

Drive up to Lookout Mountain if you want to see an awesome view of the city at night, and Buffalo Bills grave is up there too.

Head West to Golden and take the Coors Brewery Tour and get the free beer. Golden is also a cool old western town with antique stores and restaurants.

That's not open to the public yet, after the new SP ownership and renovations.

You can get tickets for limited dinner hours for what they call beta testing. You have to order tickets ahead of time.

Shelby American Collection is outside Boulder, unfortunately is is open on Saturdays only.

Rocky Mountain Arsenal has bison and ferrets?

RMNP has people.  I avoid it except maybe in winter, but that's me.  Note the timed entry thing if you do try it.

Red Rocks might be worth a visit just to see the place, check if there is construction going on there.

Skip the 16th street mall downtown, it has all the big city problems of encampments and aggressive panhandling.

Forney museum is just a bit north of downtown, a unique collection, mix of cars and trains.

clive Cusler museum is nearby as well, but has strange hours so check it out  online beforehand.

Red rocks is in Morrison on the west side, a famous concert venue with east walks and hike to make you feel far away from the city

Thank you everyone!  I didn't realize there was a Clive Cussler museum, I've loved his books, that would be interesting.  Had one of my racers at last weekend's event mention doing the Fort Restaurant as well.  He mentioned the Shelby museum, but we're racing on Saturday, so that's a no go.  Has anyone been to a show at the Aggie Theater?  Looking at seeing Tab Benoit on Wednesday night before the race.

I did some junkyard hopping when I was out there last year. Some really cool old stuff in some of the low turnover indie yards.

My first day, I went to the Margaret "Molly" Brown museum, very educational!  After the races,  I ended up going to Garden of the Gods & Pikes Peak for one day.  I did the inclined railway to Pikes Peak, then wandered around Manitou Springs a little before having supper at the Cliff House Inn and going to the Penny Arcade.  The next day I did the Denver Art Museum, and ended the day eating at the Fort Restaurant, very cool!
