The GV70 is the new brand’s new SUV that has its own look–not a Lexus, not a Benz.

My single issue with this one: I’m not a fan of the stacked rotary knobs on the console with one for gear selection and the other for screen navigation. Give us a little more differentiation between these two controls because you don’t want to reach for one and accidentally grab the other.

That’s it.

Everything else on the vehicle feels great. Take just the volume control. It uses a slightly unorthodox roller control, but just nails things regarding the feel, the action and the click. You could move this control into a Benz, and it would feel natural.

You can find it–and operate it–without removing your eyes from the road. Yep, there’s the volume, and now my Maiden is right where it needs to be.

Everything inside, in fact, feels perfectly machined from aluminum with just the right texture–kind of a checkered pattern that offers an upscale, tactile feel. Perhaps that sounds a bit cold, but it works–no chrome-plated plastic

Speaking of buttons, Genesis provides the right mix between buttons in screen. When you first get behind the wheel, you can easily make it warmer. Or colder. Or set the music where you want it. That sounds so basic, but on some cars, you need a few to figure out what’s what. Perhaps buttons and knobs aren’t so bad after all.
