Athena Racing, a nonprofit that provides STEM-focused training for young girls, plans to hold a virtual conference to discuss potential career opportunities for young girls interested in a variety of STEM fields from motorsports to design.

Called “We Are STEM,” the conference speakers include Athena Racing founder Loxley Browne, land speed record holder Tegan Hammond, and nuclear submarine officer Ryder Ashcraft.

The conference takes place on February 22, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Pacific Time, with the deadline to register on February 21. Tickets are free, though only 500 spots are available for those interested.

Broadening STEM pathways is necessary and important. So much of gearhead culture is built on masculinity that the "gearheads study STEM" idea leaves out half of the workforce and hobbiests. STEM should be for everyone.

I hope they make a recording available afterwords for anyone who couldn't get a reserved ticket.
