Stacked grids in SCCA autocross competition aren’t anything new. Check out the top-five from this SCCA gymkhana held 70 years ago: Sam and Miles Collier, two of the people credited with bringing sports car racing to the U.S., as well as Briggs Cunningham, a man who left a huge mark on the international racing stage.

Also, do we need to bring back the touch barrier? What’s that? Well, go read the article.

I'm all for bringing back the touch barrier.

It's almost like having mandatory wall taps in a drift event.

My F500 has reverse; move wheel slight left or slight right, pin throttle.................work just fine. If that doesn't work carry a way to much corner entry speed............you'll find reverse.

Looking at the course diagram, it looks like they set up the whole course with nine cones.

Back on topic I love how open the course is; let me find a hot line or totally screw it up.

Minor confession.  I read the thread title and was going to call BS on autocrossing existing in 1930 . . .

My bad.

Cones were in much shorter supply back in those days; a lot got used in the war effort
