I would love to know the precise design purpose of the pair of rear symmetrical diffuser "cheese wedges" pictured on that car and many others of that configuration. Mainly why are they fully boxed in rather than a typical winged shaped?
I get that my attached pic shows tailights in the wedge, but that is not always the norm for the location nor I surmise the reason to box them in.

In reply to jcc :
The inner vertical edge of the diffuser meets up with the inner edge of the taillight assemble and so it's likely a convenient place to hang a tail light bracket.
I also suspect that the taillight bracket cheese wedge in not in any kind of meaningful air flow so that is the best spot to put it.

An LMP3 car is going to crush the opposition like Godzilla vs Bambi.
LMP3 cars are somewhere in the 1:17s (maybe faster) at Laguna Seca. For comparison my cousin runs a SCCA P2 Stohr and he set a new lap record at 1:25.
This should be very interesting to watch.
