Top sim and real-world drivers like Tom O’Gorman, D.J. Alessandrini and James Houghton will take the green flag for GRM’s first-ever live sim race broadcast on Wednesday, December 30, at 10:00 p.m. Eastern.

The Sebring showdown featuring historic IMSA DP and GT1 machinery will be broadcast live on GRM’s YouTube and Facebook outlets. We plan to share the YouTube feed here on the GRM site–watch for details. The event will be produced by SYM TV, which will bring the look and feel of a professional real-world race broadcast to the sim racing universe. SYM TV’s Kyle Heyer and our own David S. Wallens will be in the virtual broadcast booth, and former SRO World Challenge champion Tom O’Gorman will serve as our in-race correspondent, providing commentary from behind the wheel.

To watch the race live, simply tune in at 10:00 p.m. Eastern: YouTubeFacebook or right here. If you’d like to participate in the Wednesday night race, you’ll need to join our Grassroots Motorsports iRacing league (League #6133) and join our iRacing Discord server here. The session for competitors will begin at 9:30 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday with practice and qualifying. The broadcast starts at 10:00 p.m. with the race kicking off around 10:15 p.m.

We’ll also have non-league races on Monday and Tuesday night—December 28 and 29—that will be open to the first 60 competitors. More details about those can be found here.

That is super-rad. I feel like this is one of those silver lining opportunities of the pandemic for folks who (unlike me) got their sim setup and skills dialed in.

You're right, it is pretty rad--and shows how our community still comes together no matter what. I am totally looking forward to this and hope to see some packed (virtual) stands.

Thanks, JG, for totally quarterbacking this.

It's not impossible, We just haven't figured out how to do it yet.

And we look forward to having you. Thanks for putting the race on your calendar.

I had a ton of fun last round, and this sounds like it's going to be even better.
