Want to own a car that won a marquee event? Well, this “Datsaniti” fits that bill as it won the 2019 Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge. It’ll cost you, though.

The asking price? $15,000. Hard work comes at a cost.

Eagle-eyed forum member maschinenbau spotted his former car. He reached out to the seller to find out more details, and said: “[The current owner] bought it already wrecked, repaired the front end crash damage, and in doing so painted it black with metal flake and did some interior stuff like a new aluminum dash panel and switches. He actually asked me what I thought it was worth, so I said it sold very quickly for $5k back then, and he didn’t seem offended and was very willing to deal. He’s just feeling out the market with that price. I am not at all interested in owning it again, but it’s fun to see the story continue.”

For those not familiar with the Datsaniti, it pairs a 1980 Datsun 210 wagon with an Infiniti G35 engine, hence the name.

I didn't actually find the ad, it found me via texts from 5 different people asking "is this your old car?" lol

In reply to maschinenbau :

You should of seen how long you could try to convince them it wasn't and that there was another one.

The $2002 winner sold for around six grand, if memory serves. It's had a few transfers since then. Last I heard it was in Florida, of all places. But it's not been seen in years that I know of.
