Mazda announced the addition of Liam Dwyer as a full-time racer in the 2015 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. Dwyer stunned the racing world in 2014 when he teamed up with Tom Long to co-drive their Freedom Autosport Mazda MX-5 to a win at Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day weedend. Mind you, that was just Dwyer’s second professional race. And he was doing it with an artificial leg, having been injured while serving as a U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant in Afghanistan just three years proir.

For the upcoming season he will be paired with Andrew Carbonelli, who scored two wins with Freedom Autosport and Mazda in 2014.

Check out this cool video Mazda put together on his move into professional motorsports. Get to a Conti race near you and cheer him on.

Liam is a great guy. When he autocrossed with us at CDC around 10 years ago, he had a mind-blowing (at least for me) EVO that was a fun drive. He's the only one to have broken our TR6 in 15 years of abuse (half-shaft yoke went pop). I knew then he had the passion to be a fast driver. It's good to see he's doing well.
