Briggs & Stratton. Low as that thing is, it would make an excellent riding mower.

If most racing icons carry a six- to seven-figure price tag, why does this old-school DTM race car carry an estimated value much closer to a fully loaded minivan?
A look under the hood should key you in: This C-Class was used as a show car, and thus lacks an engine and transmission.
Assuming it only needs an engine and transmission to run, what sort of powertrain would you put in this Mercedes-Benz?
Find this 1993 Mercedes-Benz C-Class DTM showcar for auction from Bonhams | Cars on December 4 with an estimated value of €30,000-€50,000, or approximately $31,645-$52,742 USD.

I was thinking of a "Sacrilege, that shouldn't be in there!" factor. Like a VW TDI with the boost turned up up up, lol.
I would use the 400 hp AMG motor out of the A class hot hatch. I think FCP Euro did something similar with a 190 2.3 race car.
That thing needs such a fine-toothed comb to find anything and everything that is missing or built to "display car" spec.
I mean, it's so much work to put the cage tubes where they are I assume that was done for real, but... I think it's scary, unless you can find out something about its origins. And I'm guessing it's got turnbuckles standing in for dampers and springs, yeah? How many items like that? I'd be real worried without further info that the "intended for display purposes only" wasn't just a CYA disclaimer...
My better half had a 2012 MB C300 Sport for a couple of years. I liked the car and always thought that building a DTM replica on that W204 platform would be cool. A C63 motor if you wanted to stay all MB or an LS/T56 with the big AMG brakes, some flares, spoiler, air dam, bigger staggered wheels, gutted interior, aluminum panels, rollcage and a bunch of gauges. A fun trackday toy and something to piss off the purist MB crowd.
