Notice something about the engine sitting in this Mk4 Volkswagen GTI? That’s right, it’s a V8. And it’s got the business end pointed toward the rear axle.

Fouckhest has owned this car since new, and over the years it has seen several different front- and all-wheel-drive setups. Currently it’s getting a 4.2-liter Audi V8.

Refreshing that he's keeping the swap in the same family. I hope this works out well, but I am unsure about the weight bias. Do we know anything about that?  Seems to me that it makes more of a difference when the swap will be only RWD (I am assuming this of course).

Weight bias is certainly top of mind, and while it will never be perfect, the R32 in factory form was 61/39, I know of some gutted turbo cars that actually end up being more like 63/37.  I am confident I will be better than that, but it will never be miata good

I am actually trying to line up time to get my car to my buddies shop to put it on the alignment rack and scales to see what it looks like as it sits today.
