Your Projects: A V12-Powered Pantera Replica

If you have ever wanted to know what the De Tomaso Pantera would be like with, say, four more cylinders, then forum user Bodinecc‘s replica Pantera project may give you the insight you’ve been looking for.

Purchased back in 2011, the Pantera was a fiberglass replica powered by a Ford-sourced V6 powerplant. Bodinecc spent some time in that first year of ownership looking to squeeze more performance out of the car, though—as we're sure many of us can relate—life got in the way until 2019, where a new plan was formulated to add more power.

On paper, the plan was simple: Double the number of cylinders of the current engine courtesy a Mercedes-Benz V12 engine.

Why not keep it closer to a real Pantera and go for a V8? Bodinecc covers that early on: “Having a project car that had no real original value, ie free hands to do what you want.”

Oh, it's okay, I guess (jealous). I wonder what transaxle that is... anything bullet proof with that engine is going to be $$$$$, and what's always stopped me from similar antics.
