By the way, for those of you keeping score at home, we’re seeing right around 19.5 mpg—not bad considering the original Road & Track test recorded 20.5 mpg. (Don’t forget, that’s also from the era of 55 mph speed limits.) Oil consumption has also been right around nil.
Okay, maybe we’re not rock stars, but some of us in the office have a definite affinity for music. This past Saturday was Record Store Day—a day set aside for independent record stores—and our 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera got to join the festivities. Call it an excuse to air it out a bit.
We’d be doing more than just looking at records, though. An Orlando punk band, The Attack, planned a six-stop, one-day tour. Each stop would visit a record store for a quick, acoustic set—yes, acoustic punk. Little tidbit learned that day: The lead singer has a ’61 Chevy wagon.
From our base near Daytona Beach we first went up to St. Augustine. Then it was back to Daytona Beach and over to Orlando. By the end of the day, the Porsche had easily covered more than four hours while visiting three record stores.
