Update by David S. Wallens to the Subaru Impreza Wagon project car
May 11, 2011

Instead of traveling in agony as the suspension crashes over suspension joints, we get to enjoy a comfortable ride, cold a/c and nonstop Iron Maiden.

Our Subaru Impreza was built to be a low-buck rallycrosser, but there’s been a nice side benefit: The car simply eats up the highway miles. Instead of traveling in agony as the suspension crashes over suspension joints, we get to enjoy a comfortable ride, cold a/c and nonstop Iron Maiden.

We had the car at The Mitty this weekend, and the trip up and back—all 1016 miles—was uneventful. The Subaru averaged 27.5 mpg, and the CD player never skipped. We did kill a bunch of bugs, however.

I have this image of an Iron Maiden Tape stuck in the player that just keeps repeating and cannot be turned off. LOL

Before leaving on a 10 hour trip to Maine, I consulted my father's old collection of Tapes. Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin! Do all the speakers still work in the Impreza? I know mine's limping along with one.

You know, I haven't checked all of the speakers. The current head unit is going, though. The car needs something with either an aux. input or iPod connectivity. I need all of my Maiden when on the road, not just a few CDs.

You'll need to log in to post.
