Update by Scott Lear to the Honda Civic SI project car
Nov 11, 2005

One of the NASA rules calls for the wheel lock on all race cars to be disabled. While we were poking around to figure out where the wheel lock was, we ended up tearing out wire reel and remaining guts that were tucked behind the airbag. This has left us with a pretty neat looking bare Honda wheel. Ultimately, an aftermarket wheel with a quick-release will probably find its way in the car, but for now this looks pretty tough.rnOur friendly neighborhood Tech Editor, Per, came by to help us find the wheel lock, and in true Per fashion he requested a big screwdriver and a large hammer. A few thwacks later, we had some wheel-lock guts on the floor. We’re going to epoxy the internal sliding mechanism in the open position, but the epoxy is drying so we’ll get a shot of that later.

It's now going through re-assembly and getting the motor refreshed. With only a little over 18k on the odometer, there's not a lot of refresh necessary...

Next is to finish the motor and get it all re-assembled...
