Hello, Rolling Resistance

Update by Jim Pettengill to the Chevrolet Volt project car

Our mean green dual projects roll on. Our Chevy Volt recently got an upgrade to its rubber and rolling gear, and our VW Beetle TDi will be close behind with a similar upgrade. The Volt now rides on a set of Focal wheels and Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tires. The T1 Sport is an ultra-high-performance summer tire, but it is unique in that it comes in sizes beyond the “sports car only” applications that tires of this class are usually available in.
Aimed at the M5 or Infiniti Coupe crowd, the T1 Sport also places a premium on low noise and decent ride in addition to absolute grip. It sounded like an excellent upgrade for some cars with few—if any—sporting pretensions. They seem like a way to add some aggression without adding too much harshness.

Be interesting to see what the change does to fuel / batt mileage.

I wouldn't want to impact your warranty or anything...but Jesse at http://wait4meperformance.com has been fooling with the "tune" on his Volt with impressive results. It turns out good old EFILive can manipulate the tables for EV operation just as well as good 'ol gasoline.
