Update by J.G. Pasterjak to the Ford Mustang GT project car
Mar 9, 2017

The SCCA’s national autocross season may have kicked off last weekend with the Tire Rack Match Tour in San Diego, but that was a heck of a commute from our Florida offices. Luckily we have a big double-header starting this weekend, and our Mustang is ready for action.

The SCCA’s Pro Solo season kicks off this weekend (March 10-12) in Fort Myers, Florida, followed next weekend by the SCCA Solo National Tour season opener at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil, Georgia. Between the two events, over 400 competitors from all over the eastern half of the country are expected to compete against the clock.

Pro Solo uses a unique format of mirror-image courses with cars launched head-to-head by a drag-race-style starting light system. It adds a level of intensity to the already nail-biting climate of national-level autocross, and makes for an interesting way to crown an overall champion of the event.

Our project Mustang is in the shop getting a few last-minute tweaks and checks before the two-weekend run. Since our appearance at the 2016 SCCA Solo Nationals, the car is nearly 180 pounds lighter, and is now sporting 335mm wide BFGoodrich Rival S tires, up from last year’s 315mm setup.

Look for live updates on our social media outlets during both weekend, and some followup on both events during an upcoming weekly live broadcast.

Watch the pages of Grassroots Motorsports for the full project car series. Subscriptions start at just $10.

So... where did you finish?

It was fun watching live autocross runs. I think one downside of the RAM mount vs the previous holder is it seems to transmit vibrations more.

After watching a number of JG's Live broadcasts from his shop, his avatar makes more sense.

He finished fourth out of 11 in CAM. Full results right here.

Yep. Fourth. Coned away third

Still, not bad considering it was fourth behind a Corvette and a John Thomas (most decorated driver in SCCA Solo history). I'll take what I can get.

You'll need to log in to post.
