Originally a six-cylinder car, now has a 302 out of a ‘70-something pickup; also has a C4 auto, but hopefully to be replaced with a T5. Rear axle is out of a Fairlane according to the pile of paper that came with it, which along with the biggish rear wheels required the god-awful fender flares. They’re the outer 3” each of a pair of VW Bug fenders, sheetmetal-screwed to the car and bondoed over. No, they didn’t do anything about completing inner fenders. Hopefully its status as the previous owner’s treasured plaything prevented it being run around in the rain much… All that said, it seems largely sound, and once I put the radiator and battery mount situation to rights, I could probably start driving it. But I can’t stand the flares (especially with the damage on one side, though I’m not sure that actually makes them worse), and I need to swap in a narrowed Explorer axle to make room to remove the flares and put the bodywork back to normal… Some Scarebird disc brake parts up front and possibly Megasquirt also seem like good ideas.
