I had an '82 with the WS6 package that I bought off the original owner. I sold it to go to college, wish I still had it. School sucks when you have to pay for it with your Trans Am. Nice ride.

Thanks, I have big plans for this one the big problem I am having is what to do about the trans I want to keep it a 5spd car but I am told that the t-5 is only good to 300ft/lbs and any 400 should have more than that.

Go easy on the T5 until it blows. Then pick up a T56 or something more stout after that. That's my vote.

The Trans isn't the only weak link - The rear isn't much better. Even though the earlier third gen rears are more stout than the later ones - it too will need replaced - especially if you will be using sticky gummies or slicks. Start scroungeing the yards and swap meets for Ford 9 inch housings! I've done some research on a third gen build - I had a '83 Z28 and have been planning a build since 1988 when I totalled it!
