Jul 30, 2009 update on friedgreencorrado's 1981 Alfa Romeo GTV6

Still locked..or is it? I can't get to it!

Perhaps I’m just impatient. Still can’t turn the engine.

But, I’ve been trying to do it by hand, and at 47yrs old, I just don’t have the wrist strength anymore. There’s not much room between the crank pulley and the radiator..I can’t even get both hands on it at the same time, much less from an angle that would allow me to bring a lil’ human muscle torque to the job. I flirted with sockets, but the biggest one I have is the 36mm I use for oil changes on the Corrados. Anyone know what size the crank nut on this engine is? I’d sure like to know before I go blowing 30bux apiece on new big sockets…

I didn’t want to have to do this so soon, but I’m considering taking off the hood, and taking out the radiator & grille, just so I have the room to throw wrenches at the thing…I tried to remove the timing belt cover tonight, and can’t see how I can do it without taking off the thermostat housing off first.
