1984 Chrysler "Executive Sedan"

16

Factory stretch New Yorker semi-limo thing. 1 of 204 ever made. The craigslist ad said “1984 Chrysler- HUGE back seat! $300”. That was enough of a context clue for my insanely K-car-knowledgeable self to go snap it up for $200. I pieced together most of the drivetrain setup.. 2.2L 8v sohc with an upgraded VNT-25 turbo with t04b compressor side and external wastegate off the turbine housing, dual core intercooler from stock VNT cores in stock location, and 2.6:1 final drive lockup a413 3spd trans. Just need to bolt it all together and get it in the car.

Odd someone should comment now, im FINALLY getting around to this thing. I changed my mind about the motor setup. I do plan to keep the g54, but put it in a k-car it never came in. I think it's crazier that way. I decided to use the rare VNT (variable nozzle turbo) setup that dodge put on some 89 and 90 cars. It spools instantly and it's rare.. two pluses for a car like this. Im upgrading the compressor side of the turbo to flow around 300hp worth of air. Doubt i'll push it that far, but this boat should run 14s nonetheless. Anywho, im cleaning/painting/assembling the motor currently. :)

I applaud your effort but that poor transmission surely won't.

Modified versions of this trans have carried cars to the 8s and 180mph in the 1/4. It shouldnt have any problem holding a 3500 lb car in the 14s, even with a super mild build. Luckily i build them myself so it's not a major expensive even if it DOES break. Turbo mopars are graced with some of THE strongest FWD transaxles ever built, bar none. :)

I parted my 85 turbo new yorker in favor of this car so i now have a turbo-vent hood, better front bumper cover, and a very nice front half of the interior. A lot of the stuff in back is unique to the executive sedan so it'll be getting redone when the car gets to that point.

How's this one coming along? I'm mesmerized by the thought of it being fast.
