Aug 23, 2012 update on vangoughv's 1970 Triumph GT6+ (Brutus)

Fuel System Upgraded...

Brutus performed pretty well for the first event ever and as I drove the car harder I noticed a significant drop off in power at high revs. The more I drove the car the worse it seemed to get. I figured it was fuel related and made sense that the CAM would be demanding a lot more at higher RPMs and the fuel system just wasn’t delivering. So I went to work upgrading; out with the mechanical pump, in with a 1-5PSI/28GPH Facet pump mounted at the rear of the car and a 1-4PSI Holly regulator mounted up front in the car. I re-piped the feed to the carbs so each would have their own line from the regulator. A quick test of the car proved that I had more than a fuel pump / plumbing issue… After a lot of looking I found that Rimmer could provide a fairly extensive variety of jet needles. I poured through the needle charts compairing profiles to the stock needles until I found what I thought to be a good choice and ordered them up. Tuesday night I had the needles installed and I trailered the car to an abandoned factory that had a nice 1/8 mile of tarmack and had a little fun screaming bp and down a few times, and the car pulled well right to to 6500RPM. Now a little test and tune priot to Calabogie next week and enjoy some newly found pepp :)
