Mazda 1992 MX-3 RS

Where do I start? It’s a ‘92 Mazda MX-3 RS, with a ‘91 Protege LX engine, and a ‘93 Protege LX transmission. The engine’s been bored 2mm over to 85mm x 85mm, with 11:1 Wiseco pistons, but the head and block have been decked slightly so it’s closer to 12:1. I built a Megasquirt-II ECU running the latest release of MS2/Extra controlling everything. Homemade idle control circuit and MSD ignition box stuffed under the console. It’s got an incredibly crappy intake made from the stock tube + a cheap cone filter from autozone + a PVC adapter with a hole bored in it for the intake air temp sensor = uber-1337 amirite? 85 Shore urethane filled motor and transmission mounts. Tokico Blue struts and H&R springs. SPEC Stage 2+ clutch and lightweight aluminum flywheel. Ummmm…. my stock muffler rusted the hell out and I ghettorigged a Thrush Turbo muffler on there with TheRoadWarrior that I’m quite embarassed to say I actually rather like the sound of. A full exhaust will be replacing it soon. Oh! I painted the car (again with TheRoadWarrior, thanks man) with roller brushes. Rustoleum Sunburst Red Gloss. It looks pretty damn good actually, and the paint’s super tough… not going anywhere any time soon. By far it’s not the fastest car I’ve ever driven but it puts a huge smile on my face, so hey, that’s what counts right?
