Nice paint scheme there.
car is a 1985 Dodge Charger 2+2 prepared to SCCA ITB specs. The car competes in the PHA Hillclimb series.
I painted that car! Best paint job I ever did. Joe bought it from a friend of mine - Curtis. He bought that body to replace a car he rolled at Rose Valley Hillclimb. The car came with a black body that was faded in some spots. The red and yellow is left-over firetruck DuPont Imron 5000 (I worked for a firetruck manufacturer at the time). The design was to cover up the faded paint spots! The scallop design was influenced by hot rods (obviously) and the checker board design is from a OLD article in Auto Graphics magazine on a paint job on a ski-boat. It's really easy - I'll have to post a how-to one day. The GRM decals cover up two runs in the same spot on both sides of the car! The longest red scallop whiskers are different lengths on either side of the car. Some useless trivia.
You should know that the engine "grenaded" at Summit Point's Jefferson circuit over the 2007 Labor Day weekend; that's after 7 years of relatively turnkey racing... 5 Class Championships, 2 Team Championships, and some hill records in class. Installed a probuilt engine over the winter and then "wrecked" my back in the Spring of '08. My last ride in the car was the Fall Weatherly Hillclimb in '08...finished first in class. Car sold in the Spring of '09. The car is raced by its' new owner-Barry. I miss the car but my back says no more racing. Life goes on...
